Life after Yggdrasil?
@neogeosnk dont confuse newer chipsets different math for better, the newer math is often made to be able to include the next higher sampling rate options available, whether that be pcm or dsd. For those of us with decades of critical digital listening experience we know that the complete...- koolblue3

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
This is a small comparison not a review, though of course you have to wonder how long the Yggy was plugged in for, whether proper break in had occurred etc. https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2016/01/30/review-aune-s16-dac/- koolblue3

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Daily since last November when my email was replied to and told to check the site. and living in Canada means the exchange rate adds many dollars. Just so happens the exchange rate was more favourable several weeks ago when there were black available . Not happy here Ps. Would like one without...- koolblue3

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
oh, i though that mentioning someone like Thelonius Monk might be helpful, if someone listened and tried to describe what they heard for a small portion on a particular piece. Difficult for sure, but certainly helps even the listener is attaching differences to all the pieces of musical gear...- koolblue3

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Hmm that's quite interesting however I was looking for a more descriptive explanation of the actual sound of the piano on a chosen piece. Too often I have heard what you have just claimed, went over to another's home to listen only to leave scratching my head wondering if that person has...- koolblue3

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
yes, i did spell it incorrectly, thank you for pointing it out. i believe you are referring to John Coltrane's Equinox, . But equinox is jazz, and i believe McCoy Tyner was part of Coltrane's quartet at the time as his pianist, but i could be wrong . So lets use that piece, how does the...- koolblue3

Life after Yggdrasil?
quoting "Phasure NOS1a. Best NOS DAC for redbook PCM at many times its price IMO. Wipes the floor with MSB Analog which I sold." by YATES7592 apparently it is quite fiddly requiring quite a bit of software tweaking to get the best out of it, i almost went that route as I'm decently...- koolblue3

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
would someone be able to post their impressions of the Yggy as it plays piano pieces? preferably jazz by Thelonius Monk or some Classical (for example by Chopin, Satie, Bartok or Lizst , it doesn't have to be any one of these but I'm just remembering these 4 as i type) I'm looking for...- koolblue3

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
not trying to change the subject here about yggy, as there do seem to be a few who believe that changing the fuse improves sonics on the yggy so why is $120 absurd, you must have a reason. im not believer in fuses acting in a way that improves the sonics as once i tried an...- koolblue3

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
for those looking to save a few dollars on a used Yggy DAC you should think to buy new. As Schiit will not honour the warranty for a used purchase. Considering that some people are asking close to new price, i should think that one might as well buy a new one. How do I know, because i purchased...- koolblue3

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)
Transparency Both the Audiomeca Ambrosia and SF SFD MK II are more transparent . Further and deeper sound stages with better spatial location of instruments. They combine a whole coherent scale of the macro dynamic swings and flow of music while maintaining the tiny individual pieces that make...- koolblue3

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)
I owned a Model S (mk I) for almost 3 years. It is indeed a very nice DAC, with a very deep soundstage unlike most other DACs. It is lively and exciting, however as I improved my main system and it marched towards transparency and truth (?) I found I preferred 2 of my other R2R DACs over it and...- koolblue3

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
In the past 40 plus years that I have used int amps and separates I can't think of a time where having the volume at 2 o'clock for extending listening periods was goin to be good for the amp unless the signal level was really low as in using a very very low output MC cartridge on one of my...- koolblue3
