k280 restoration
So today I finally got around changing the foam rings inside my K280 and my K240M. While removing the old, rotten foam, I noticed that the thin paper membrane on the K280's right side has a small perforation. Maybe I was simply not careful enough or it has been there for some time - I don't...- andi85

BeyerDynamic owners unite...
I have an old DT220 that I bought off eBay for a couple of euros - I think it was about 15€ or so. It's a nice headphone and surprisingly comfortable with new pads - they still sell replacements!- andi85

That's a pretty good price for a new unit - often well-used ones go for that amount. I have a K141 Studio to fix up, somewhere a connection has gone bad. If I like them after the repair, I might keep them …- andi85

Cpt. Klotz (and of course everybody), the foam ring inside the ear cups is still available from AudioPro and RW Soundsystems. I think it simply depends on what works for you. Some claim that even former flagships should only be used as paperweights nowadays, others recommend to shop for used quality gear instead of modern entry- to mid-level phones. Sorry, but that doesn't make sense. Are you sure you didn't make a typing mistake? Obviously, velours pads for the K271 will fit the K271 If you meant the K270, the K271 pads will fit as well. The K171 requires different pads than the K271. On the parts list for the K171 Studio...- andi85

Roll Call for Team AKG
I tried mine with the AKG velours pads - liked the pleather better though. So I guess it will be new stock pleather pads for my 240M. I won't use it all day long, so the extra comfort isn't worth a tradeoff in sound.- andi85

Alright, my ohm meter is acting strangely, but apparently the DT220 is 400Ω. Concerning the use with the MP3 player, maybe I got ahead of myself a little.
