AKG K141 Review and Appreciation Thread

The K141 Studio I had here for repair turned out to be a very nice phone – and extremely comfortable, even with the stock pleather pads. For financial reasons I decided to sell it though :D

Will AKG K172 pads fit on K171?

$70 after shipping is crazy. Where are you living? I'm not sure about the US, but within Europe there should be a way to get them cheaper next time.

    k280 restoration

So today I finally got around changing the foam rings inside my K280 and my K240M. While removing the old, rotten foam, I noticed that the thin paper membrane on the K280's right side has a small perforation. Maybe I was simply not careful enough or it has been there for some time - I don't...

    BeyerDynamic owners unite...

I have an old DT220 that I bought off eBay for a couple of euros - I think it was about 15€ or so. It's a nice headphone and surprisingly comfortable with new pads - they still sell replacements!

AKG K141 Review and Appreciation Thread

That's a pretty good price for a new unit - often well-used ones go for that amount. I have a K141 Studio to fix up, somewhere a connection has gone bad. If I like them after the repair, I might keep them …

AKG K141 Review and Appreciation Thread

Take it like a man (or a woman of course) !!!   Also, you could do a lot worse. When I had to evaluate recordings of one of my bands, I took my K271 Studio onto the train. They make you look like an alien

    k280 restoration

Well, I'll see what I can find. It seems like it's meant to keep the ear pads off the baffle - but I don't really see the reason behind that. Whatever … :)

    k280 restoration

Cpt. Klotz (and of course everybody), the foam ring inside the ear cups is still available from AudioPro and RW Soundsystems. The little foam thingy that sits directly under the earpads, however, seems to be out of stock at both distributors. You could always call in Vienna, however, I'm not...

AKG 280 and Sennheiser HD 420

I think it simply depends on what works for you. Some claim that even former flagships should only be used as paperweights nowadays, others recommend to shop for used quality gear instead of modern entry- to mid-level phones. Whatever people say, you have to decide - because you are the one who...

You're welcome. Have fun with your K171!

Will AKG K172 pads fit on K171?

Sorry, but that doesn't make sense. Are you sure you didn't make a typing mistake?   Obviously, velours pads for the K271 will fit the K271 If you meant the K270, the K271 pads will fit as well.   The K171 requires different pads than the K271. On the parts list for the K171 Studio...

Review by 'andi85' on item 'AKG K55'

Those were my first headphones. At €35 they were affordable and my digital piano sounded way better than through my bad keyboard amp, but that was about it. I never listened to music to those, I liked my small hifi system better.   Coming back to them after a few years of storage, I was...

    AKG K55

Light, highly comfortable headphones Skin-compatible leatherette ear pads Excellent price/performance This closed-back design offers both excellent comfort and a fantastic sound that is both powerful (Turbo Bass) and accurate. High ambient noise attenuation makes the K 55 a perfect choice for...

Review by 'andi85' on item 'AKG AKG K412P'

I bought those primarily for my university year abroad. I simply couldn't imagine taking full-size studio cans like my K271 on the plane. As I liked my 271, I simply went for something from the same company.   In spite of a lot of negative comments, I have come to like them for what they do...

Review by 'andi85' on item 'AKG Acoustics K240 Monitoring Headphones'

Of my three AKGs (K271S, K240M, K280), those are my favorite. They are very comfortable and also smaller and lighter than the closed-back circumaural AKGs. Being 600Ω cans, they are somewhat dependent on the source: My old JVC CD player drives them well, so do the powerful headphone amps of...

Review by 'andi85' on item 'AKG K 271 Studio'

My first serious pair of headphones … Having grown out of my previous AKG K-55 I was recommended those. I liked their sound and comfort better than with the smaller K171 Studio, so I spent the extra cash on them. My decision back then wasn't really well informed as I did not test many...

Review by 'andi85' on item 'AKG K280'

The twin-driver layout of the K280 Parabolic has fascinated me for some time, so when I found a unit that was too cheap to be true, there was no way that I could resist. In response to some rather negative comments about the K280, I had considered re-selling them after a short test, but thought...

    AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?

Hi everyone,   since today I'm a LP Sextett owner, too. It has white radiators and a solid headband with AKG letters. My unit was rather inexpensive but it needs some refurbishment. The cable is missing, one side doesn't work and - of course - pads, elastics and damping are dead. I've worked...

First pair were AKG K55. First real pair K271 Studio. I still have them :)

    Roll Call for Team AKG

I tried mine with the AKG velours pads - liked the pleather better though. So I guess it will be new stock pleather pads for my 240M. I won't use it all day long, so the extra comfort isn't worth a tradeoff in sound.

    Roll Call for Team AKG

Quote: I'm really happy with the K240M - I'm glad that I went hunting for one. I'm almost done with refurbishment: New foam disks and new elastics are in there, I only have to order new ear pads.   The K271 is not my favorite for listening, however, I love it as my personal monitoring...

    Roll Call for Team AKG

Seems like I should join "Team AKG", too.  So far, I have a K240 Monitor, a K271 Studio and a K412P for travelling. A K280 Parabolic is here, too, but I'm not sure if I'll really keep it. My K55, first "real" headphones I ever owned, are up for sale. I have a couple of beaten up AKGs that...

looking for a set of vintage cans for fun

Quote: Yes, they are worth a try. I like mine a lot.   As far as the K280 goes, I just think they are a cool piece of HiFi history. Also, I find them super-comfortable, they really perfect the circum-aural idea and have a somewhat "airy" quality. The sound isn't bad either. My unit...

Reply to review by 'andi85' on item 'Beyerdynamic DT220'

Alright, my ohm meter is acting strangely, but apparently the DT220 is 400Ω. Concerning the use with the MP3 player, maybe I got ahead of myself a little. Let's say it works at a volume that is enough for home use. It wouldn't be my choice for a busy regional train etc. and it sounds better from...
