Go for a pair of used audio technica ATH-A900s the sound quality is amazing and 2nd hand they're usually around 130 dollars.

I found that KY jelly is really good for reducing irritation during insertion. Just rub a little on the tip. Try to stay away from the warming kind because that might actually *increase* the irritation you experience. Good luck!

Hi guys, sorry for being a total n00b but I just want to be careful with my headphones (beautiful a900s). Anyways, I was just wondering how exactly might my headphones get blown or damaged from the music I play. I know volume shouldn't be extremely high but what else should I be careful of...

a900s actually have metal casing (aluminum i believe?) but the rest is made of plastic. I really don't think durability will be a problem though especially if you're comparing with grados which in my opinion are more fragile due to the thin layer of plastic/aluminum protecting the drivers...

I suggest the audio technica ATH-A900 the sound quality is beautiful and the isolation is definitely top-notch!

Definitely cans first since you'd just have an amp/source sitting around if you buy them first haha Also, i think you'll want to buy the source and amp according to what kind of headphones you have.

haha i used to keep them hooked together like that when i first got them but eventually it got really annoying. the hook comes apart pretty easily and like to pop open randomly unless you wrap the cord around them.

I suggest you look into some J-Rock. Most of that stuff gets me pretty pumped. Try this song: Driver's High by L'arc-en-Ciel I know you're not really into J-Rock but just try it (hopefully you're not as hip-hop biased as you used to be :P )
