Pls Recommend: IEM/Canal For NYC Commute
Thanks all for the recommendations. Started reading up on the new Super.fi 5 thread... It is really hitting the right note, along with SA6. The question is whether replaceable cables would make up for the price difference; indecision is kicking in.- muskie

Vibez? iPod?
With somewhat limited understanding of volume normalization: Isn't volume normalization usually a way to 'hint' adjustments in the tags for a compatible player/firmware to action them? If this is true, how is MP3Gain different from ReplayGain/Soundcheck? Furthermore, is there a way to...- muskie

Vibez? iPod?
Does Vibez support volume normalization? For the sake of Soundcheck/ReplayGain(Rockbox), I am leaning towards purchasing refurb last-gen iPod or iPod nano. But I am torn, as I have many WMA files, which I must convert if I take that route. And I do like Vibez's non-proprietary USB connector...- muskie

CX300, Super.fi 3, EP-630, or MDR-EX90LP
Isolation aside, what would be the expected listening experience on EP-630/CX300 compared to V6 and Eggo D22 or even MDR-EX71SL?- muskie

That's not good.. V6's seal is not bad... But it is not very comfortable for commute. Eggo that I used to have was more comfortable. Despite somewhat veiled sound, it was much for fun; somehow it seemed to project the sound much better than V6 does. With V6, I like the clarity, but it feels...- muskie

CX300, Super.fi 3, EP-630, or MDR-EX90LP
I decided to try out in-ear headphones; V6 is too bulky, uncomfortable, and warm, and doesn't give me sufficient isolation for the my subway commute. I am looking to spend <$100, and the phones in the above list appear to be the popular choices in this forum. And like the way I chose to go...- muskie

I am surprised to see that this thread has grown since; thanks for all inputs and encouragements. While I continue to look around for prices, I just wanted to point out that refurbished V6's have just gotten listed at simplycheap for $49.95: http://www.simplycheap.com/sonymdrv6.html- muskie

Newbie thinking MDR-V6/7506
I do listen to cello pieces quite a bit as well; I would be very interested in your opinions on this, if you don't mind. I realize that for my portable needs, V6 seems to be a sound investiment and strikes the note despite its shortcomings. In the mean time, your opinions as well as...- muskie

DJGeorgeT - "Tank" sounds like the word for me. Thanks for the input. Buster Sword - Classical guitar is no good? That is not very encouraging. Do you think amps will help in any of the negatives that you articulated? How is A900 (saw your review) from durability standpoint? Also...- muskie
