Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

@atubbs , you laugh, but there is another direct-to-consumer brand that goes as low as $219. Granted, they are designed in North America, but made in China. I am sure Schiit can build a better quality 2-channel amp for the price I listed, but have it made in California. I bet they can hit...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Request!   Schiit Valkyrie   - No headphone out. Less parts, less cost. - 2 channels with a commonly used signal out for an active subwoofer. - 100w minimum - class A or AB. I am not an expert on that part so use discretion. - 2 or 3 pieces of aluminum similar to the Ragnarok.  - $399

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Despite having a switch fail on my Bifrost (which, again, was fixed promptly along with an added Uber upgrade), I was greatly satisfied with my Bifrost. Parts fail. It happens. My Gungnir and Mjlonir are running strong. I use them daily. I highly recommend them with the Audeze LCD-2F.

    Schiit Mjolnir headphone amplifier

With the Asgard, I heard a difference between when it was cold and when it was warmed up (10-15 minutes). It went from being slightly bass-lite to saturated and full of bass. I was using Grado 225 (with a touch of EQ to add some bass and decrease the 10khz spike in the Grados) and Sennheiser...

    Schiit Mjolnir headphone amplifier

I have not had any glare or any hint of an issue pointing toward decreased sound quality. Compared to the original Asgard, it doesn't seem to have as much of a difference between being warmed up or being cool in terms of affecting the audio. I am using the stock cable with the LCD 2F. I would...

    Schiit Mjolnir headphone amplifier

I have been using my Mjolnir/Gungnir with the LCD-2F since a few days after Christmas. I can't comment on any real change in the sound over time, but it sounds great. Highly detailed, excellent black-ground, good bass slam. I would highly recommend the setup to anybody who does extended...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

To the switchgate scandal (lol): I had to send Schiit my Bifrost to be repaired after 3 or 4 months of use due to a switch that stopped throwing completely. As in I would turn it on and it didn't come on consistently. I still wouldn't call the switch flimsy. It is a decently weighted throw and...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I just went from an Asgard 1 /Bifrost Uber to a Mjolnir and Gungnir. On the LCD-2F, it wasn't night and day. The M/G combo is clearer and has a better frequency balance with increasing volume, but if I had heard the M/G before purchasing, it is (mildly) possible that I may not have purchased...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Shots in the dark:   - PC Soundcard. Why? It is basically a DAC with different power specs and pins. I am willing to bet that PC geeks will buy it. Plus, no need for fancy cosmetics.   - Schiit hi-rez media box. It sits on your desk. It stores media and spits out HD signal. Balanced or SE...

    Schiit Mjolnir headphone amplifier

I received the Mjolnir and Gungnir late night Saturday, Dec 27. I am using the LCD 2F, and only had them for maybe a week and half. I was using them on an Asgard and Bifrost Uber. Out of the box, I noticed the Mjolnir/Gungnir is considerably less grainy and the LCD 2Fs seem to scale better with...

    Schiit Mjolnir headphone amplifier

Note taken on the burn-in. My music will most certainly be ice picks at time, should this be the case. Granted, I am pretty sure most the metal I listened to was mixed to be a bit on the overcooked treble side of things (anything with a 5150/6505 amp or Axe FX in the mix comes to mind). I will...

    Schiit Mjolnir headphone amplifier

After reading the entire thread, I have ordered the Mjolnir, Gungnir, and Pyst XLR cables. After seeing the Magni 2 (uber) and Modi 2 (uber) released, I am just hoping I don't run into the same issue I had with the Asgard. I think I had it for a month or so before Asgard 2 was released. Mjlonir...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I bought my HD-600 from Massdrop. It took forever to get shipped due to Sennheiser not having the shear quantity available (roughly 200 were bought for $275). I was a user of Grado SR60, and SR225 before buying the HD-600. The HD-600 is definitely flatter in frequency response, a tad deeper in...

    Grado Fan Club!

Super deep bass from the Grados don't seem to be possible, but a current heavy amp definitely helps. I am using the Schiit Asgard with the Schiit Bifrost DAC. The Asgard definitely gives the Grados a fullness boost from giving it the proper current. Any good amp with a low out impedance should...

    Schiit Owners Unite

I listened to the Bifrost -- > Asgard --- > Grado SR225 setup last night. I am very used to the Asgard and SR225 sound. The Bifrost clearly out-classed my older X-Fi Fatality sound card. The audio has clearer/deeper bass, clearer treble, and a much smoother sound than the sound card. Music also...

My Bifrost has arrived. I can't listen to until after the work and gym. 7 more hours.

My Bifrost shipped on Monday and should be arriving 4/15/2013. This will compliment my Asgard and Grado SR225 well. Many musical nights await.

    HD600 vs HD650 vs Maddogs vs DT880's for metal/rock and all-round use.

I am using a Grado SR225 with a Schiit Asgard amp. Grados are much happier with a low impedence output amp. They sound shrill from poorly powered sources (eg stock computer headphone jack). Granted, I use a slight EQ for bass boost and treble decrease, but I think they are killer for metal. I...

    Why have we become audiophiles.

I got into the audiophile hobby thanks to my junior year college roommate. He was apparently reading head-fi when he was researching some new headphones after purchasing a new stereo amp/receiver.  He found a thread that was a shootout for the Sennheiser HD 497 and the Grado SR-60. He bough the...

    Songs with good bass ?

Bleeding Through - anything off the Declaration album. Start with Death Anxiety, or Germany as your track samples.  For those not familiar, this is a metalcore band with awful gothic keyboards that are typical poorly produced. For the Declaration album, producer Devin Townsend gave them good...

    Your 'unlikely' audiophile songs

Cannibal Corpse - The Time To Kill Is Now (from the album Kill). This track wins the loudness war and still somehow manages to allow the bass guitar to be heard CLEARLY with simultaneous death metal guitars, drums, and screaming. Nice work, Erik Rutan, on making death metal sound clear on an...

    Explain your avatar

My avatar is pic of a Mesa Engineering Triple Rectifier guitar amp. I own one and it is my favorite guitar amp for playing metal. I tested out a few and have heard many pro bands at shows using various other amplifiers, including the Triple Rec. I would highly recommend it to anyone who plays...

    Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones

I already know that I am in for the long haul. I heard differences in cables in my guitar amp and I want hear how tubes sound in a home stereo/headphone amp. I am a firm believer that every part of the chain within sound reproduction can help/hurt/neutral the output. It is a matter of what you...

    Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones

Hello everyone. I figured since this is the non-audiophile post (and this will be my first post), I will tell you guys my story in how I got into audio. I consider myself an audiophile now because I have only been dreaming about getting a good audio setup for a long time. It all began back in...
