what does everyone think of this combo with the beyerdynamic t1

You can't go wrong with a Woo amp just make sure the specs match up well.    I have a $2,500 amp designed for HD800s that sound like crap with my HE-6s. Purchased another amp that power the HE-6s wonderfully and not the HD800s.    I've heard the Woo WA5 and it sounded wonderful.

    My next step up?

I have D5000s for sale. I started out with SRH840s, and to be honest, anything you move up to is better than those.    There are a number of ways you can go based on price point, including Denon AH-D2000, Sennheiser HD-650, etc.    That said, D5000s are amazing for the money if you...

    Denon AH-D7000

It's interesting when you look at their product guide that the D2Ks share the same drivers as the D5Ks and the D5Ks have the same speaker wire as the D7Ks.

Audio Technica ATH-M50: Are amplifiers necessary / equalizers what?

Eh, I might take that back. I sold someone a Total Bithead who felt that it made his sound better. I would not use gain on them though.

Audio Technica ATH-M50: Are amplifiers necessary / equalizers what?

None of that is necessary. It might actually be detrimental given how bright they sound already.

    Sennheiser HD700 or Denon D7000

Hmmm.... that is a tough call. I would wait to hear the HD700s before making a choice. Personally, I would roll with the HE-6s (used) or HE-500. They're by far superior to most cans in their price range right now.

    Headphone DAC vs My receiver?

Because headphone amps are able to provide constant power at those levels without having any significant spikes. Receivers aren't that sensitive and if there was a spike you could blow you headphones.

need advise on headphones,3 requirement. plz help

Go for Audio-Technica L3000 if you can find them. If that's too $$$, I'd suggest trying out the Victor JVC DX-1000s. They have the best bass signature of any sub $1,500 can I've heard, but they are slightly bulky; not heavy, just bulky.    My friend wants to sell his, so PM me if interested...

Are Audiophile headphones only for classical/jazz/instrumental?

For mainstream stuff -- look for more closed-type headphones, like Denon AH-D2000, AH-D5000, Beyerdynamic DT880, etc. Sennheisers like HD650s have better clarity but aren't as 'fun'.

Bassy headphones for unamped ipod classic?

    Any of the Denon line -- AH-D2000, AH-D5000 or Audio-Technica ATH-M50.

    Denon D2000 Bass is unimpressive

I would give it more time... the level of bass is something you become adjusted to the more cans you hear. If you listened to some $1,500 HD800s you might feel like they sound like crap, but really they represent bass very accurately.

    Best open headphones $400-$800

HiFiMan HE-500 or HE-6 (if you can find it used). Possible you might be able to find HD-800s used as well for that price.

    Decent Amp for iPod Classic

For portability, iBassos are good, but a little pricey.    Can't beat the Total Bithead or Total Airhead. TBH also is a USB DAC.

how does the HE-500 compare to hd-650

Yes, I agree with the last person. The HE-500s are awesome but require quite a bit of power.

You know you're an audiophile when...

You spend more than $5,000 a year on various equipment and can never seem to be happy with a great pair of cans.

Bought Denon AH-D7000's off Ebay. Are these new or are they refurbs?

I am VERY familiar with Denon -- all their lineup as well as their packaging.    How was it packaged? Every Denon box can be unpackaged and repackaged very easily. That said, those imperfections seem a little suspicious, but if you could provide more detail, I could give more insight.

Best headphone for $300.00 or less?

    I'd go for used HD650s or AH-D2000s.

I am now torn between what to do! Denon D2000, D5000, HD600, HD598, HD650 or?

    If you're looking for D5000s, I have a pair I'm selling.

I am now torn between what to do! Denon D2000, D5000, HD600, HD598, HD650 or?

Go with either the HD650 or D5000.    The HD650 has clearer mids and highs, but doesn't provide quite the brightness at the mid and low end that the D5000s have. Either way, both are good choices.   The HD650s sound much better powered with an amp, while the D5000s don't necessarily need...

    First Time Buyer! Need Advice!

If you liked the sound of the ATH-M50s, and the closed-ear sound, then look at Denons.    The Denon AH-D2000s can be had used for around $220.    I have a pair of Denon AH-D5000s I'm selling for $415 shipped. They are the next model up, have a very lively bright sound, and have mahogany...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

What's absurd is that they were going to send me HE-400s this week... Even though there was the flaw.
