Passable if you're using wired earphones. They're good with my Etymotic ER3 XR. You have to be willing to forgive somewhat poor build quality and a less than perfect but still functional UI. A strong no if your intended use is with anything requiring bluetooth.

Just received my Hiby R2. It doesn't appear to allow the option of playing albums sequentially. That's counter intuitive, does anyone know how to to get it to do so?

Today I received the X5. Initial impressions are positive; tonight I'll be listening to music and watching a movie with the IEMs in my ears. Tomorrow I'll take them to the gym and see if they're appropriate companions for lifting.

Balanced, neutral and clear should (ideally) be the goal of earphone tuning.  In my experience balanced armatures are the best way to get there with the exception of the bass frequencies which often sound more realistic coming from a dynamic driver.

Skittle would be 'purple'. 

I didn't try EQ because for the purposes of a review I want to tell the reader what they'd be getting from the stock experience.  I do believe you're likely right; it's obvious the driver used is high quality and a little experimenting might yield interesting results.

Edit: Lend Me UR Ears has contacted me and is sending a replacement for my dead D2.  I'm very pleased with their customer service.   I'll admit my gym use is very hard on earphones (a lot of sweat)  and will definitely shorten their lifespan.

My D2 are dead.  They still produce sound but it's shrill and without bass.  They did suffer hard gym use (in which my ears get very sweaty) but overall I'm disappointed; previously I've used IEMs that were not sport specific and they survived my gym visits for a longer duration.

Interesting frequency range... It suggests this may be a very dynamic dynamic.

You might end up surprising yourself.  When I finished reviewing the t096z I swapped in the blue valves and thought that was that.  Not true though, I've since switched back to the reds as I enjoy what works as a refined sound for watching TV shows and some movies.

Thanks for the review.  The comparison to the RE-400s and the focus on the mids sells this for me.  I loved my RE-400s but the build quality was abysmal and both pairs I bought (for myself and my wife) died.   I'll likely be picking up a pair.
