    Liquid Gold - 2014

Just thought I'd chime in here about fuses. They are a safety device, designed to prevent electrical shorts from causing a fire in your amp or house wiring.   Think about what the fuse is seeing, a 120V 60 Hz sine wave (here in the US) from your wall outlet. If a fuse was directional, then...

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)

Just wanted to post this link to a list of DACs and the D/A converters used in them, you all may have already have seen it.  Not sure if it is 100% correct, but it seems to be a good starting point.   http://www.dutchaudioclassics.nl/the_complete_d_a_dac_converter_list/   By the way my Yggy...

    New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

My Theta Gen VA certainly does have vents, right over the output transistors. I think the FCC radiation rules were more lenient in the mid 90's.

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)

Some manufacturers put the oscillator in an oven to keep them stable.

So, the follow up question is how does ADI test their DAC's in production? I doubt they power them up for a week to test INL and DNL, that would be cost prohibitive.

Just an FYI, the manual for my Theta Gen V-VA states that it takes 4 days on for the analog output section to stabilize.   Also, when the Theta is plugged in, the analog section is always on, regardless of the ON/OFF switch position. Perhaps the yggy will work the same way?

The Decware TABOO MK 111 Thread

If you want a DAC that is similar to the first two on your list, I would wait for the Schiit Yggdrasil. It is supposed to be more like an R2R DAC, the Theta is outstanding (I have one) but is 20 yrs. old and cannot play higher res files. The Schiit will be out soon, hopefully in the next few months.

The Decware TABOO MK 111 Thread

Do you notice a slight increase in volume as you switch in the original lucid mode and then add the new lucid mode?   Thx.

The Decware TABOO MK 111 Thread

Here are a few pics now that the weekend is here and I have some time....   I installed the Philips 5R4GYS, just to see how it sounds, but I have < 12 hrs on the Taboo as I had to get some sleep last night.

Thanks for the info, Frank.   I just wanted to make sure it was okay to have both Lucid mode switches on at the same time.   Great review as well...

The Decware TABOO MK 111 Thread

I just received my Cherry Base Taboo III today, and it is a beauty. This is the first Decware amp I've owned and I am very impressed. First class workmanship.   It sounds just fine with my LCD-2's, although it is only a few hours old.   Does anyone know what happens when both LUCID mode...

    April Music Eximus DP-1

Quote:     I had this exact LED indicator problem with a DP-1, I purchased last year. I returned it to the dealer and he could not replicate the problem. I decided to just get my money back and move on to another DAC as I could not accept this behavior for a DAC in this price range. I...
