    SMSL M8A (ES9028Q2M)

Any updates, Jimster? I am curious how the M8A compares to Topping. I've just received the latter and is sound pretty good, albeit I don't have any comparison.

Have you heard the topping as well?   I'll be looking forward to hear from you about the M8A. As I still don't get how could it have lower SNR than M8 while having better components.

Did you actually heard it or is it just the "specs looks good" opinion?

    SMSL M8A (ES9028Q2M)

M8A is currently on sale at one ali seller ~ $172. I am still undecided whether to go for it or buy the Topping D30. I am very curious about first reviews of M8A.   I contacted SMSL with the question about SNR and difference between M8 and M8A. I'll post the answer once I have it.

    SMSL M8A (ES9028Q2M)

I believe the original m8 chip was 9018k2m, which is mobile version of 9018 and has worse parameters than 9028q2m

There is a new chip, which is big change IMO. Especially since this thread is called new-m8-dac-from-smsl-9018-xmos. But I can delete it...

    SMSL M8A (ES9028Q2M)

SMSL just released upgraded version of SMSL M8 with ES9028Q2M chip and DSD512 support. Anyone heard it already? Strangely, they state it has lower SNR than M8 (M8a ~ 117 vs M8 ~ 125). Dunno if to believe those numbers anyway.  ...

New M8 DAC from SMSL (9018/XMOS)

No idea. Maybe the weight. The new one should be 398 g. Not sure what the old one weights, but should be less:)

New M8 DAC from SMSL (9018/XMOS)

Has anyone hear the updated version M8A? It is listed on Amazon by SMSL and there are some aliexpress sellers offering those as well. It is supposed to have different chip, ES9028Q2M, and support DSD512.

    Standalone DAC for ~ $ 150

Thanks, do you think multibit is a noticeable improvement over M8? Coz here (http://www.musicservertips.com/product-reviews/smsl-m8-dac/) they say M8 actually sounds better (see the discussion)

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Thank you guys for your answers. I think that one of these can work: Koss DjPro100, Brainwavz HM3/F-004/Incipio f38 and  Shure srh 440.   I'm also thinking of Denon DN-HP700 (maybe the hottest choice so far) and Ultrasone HFI-450/Yamaha RH10MS.    Which of these would you recommend?

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Thx for your reply. The problem with the ones you mentioned (with the exception of Shures) is that they are not foldable (if I am right - at least according to the pictures at google).   Regarding the PortaPro, I was quite happy with those. However, I didn't try any other headphones so far...
