No matter how hard I try I do not like the HD600's (but I love my HD650's). What's wrong with me?
Thanks for the reply guys. I guess I'm going to return them. I doubt I'll change my mind and while they are very decent I just don't think they are of my personal taste.- clarknova

No matter how hard I try I do not like the HD600's (but I love my HD650's). What's wrong with me?
I just bought some HD600's and although I love their design and find them comfortable , mostly , I can't get over the non-relaxed sound signature of them. The HD650 really does ease back on the mids to a degree that , at least in my mind , makes them "realistic" for whatever that's worth...- clarknova

Daft Punk Random Access Memories - Finally
RAM sounds completely brilliant. Daft Punk did a CNN interview (audio only) stating that they feel the Electronic music scene has gone "stale" (which is sure the hell has) and that they wanted to release something different and really "evolve" their music out of their strictly electronic sound... -

Also the new Daft Punk Album (streaming for free on Itunes) really pushes the strengths of Ortho cans like these. If you want a good album to push them , RAM is it.- clarknova

Quote: The top of the Magni has a bunch of holes for ventilation. Put your hand over it , if its overly warm (something you wouldn't want your hand on for more than 3-5 seconds) than its overheating and you need to provide better ventilation otherwise you will prematurely kill it. What Are You Listening To Right Now?
Quote: I have to agree. Excellent job mastering , great funky/techno groove. Only Daft Punk could create such a blissful mix :) -

New Daft Punk album streaming on Grooveshark. They knocked it out of the park .. AGAIN. Absolute sonic bliss. -
Need Budget HD800 Amp Help
Schiit Asgard 2 without question in that price range. If you want to save some cash the Magni drives the HD800's wonderfully and I just listened to that combo today and found it very pleasing.- clarknova

Quote: Exactly. Some people claim you won't hear a true sounding headphone until you've "burned" or "broken" them in for hundreds if not THOUSANDS of hours which is equally absurd to someone arguing how the soundstaging is from one headphone to the next. Headphones are purely...- clarknova

I seriously bought a pair of these on a lark since I was itching to try something planar magnetic and figured HiFiMAN is so well liked for their high end models I would give it a shot. God , I'm glad I did. I've been on a quest for ages to find something to replace my HD650's or at least...- clarknova

V-Moda LP2 Review
Picked up the Crossfade LP2 for Christmas and overall I'm very impressed. Build quality is solid , although I've heard of people having issues with durability of the screws however I have not had that issue. Sound Quality : Really smooth presentation. I wouldn't call them "neutral" but the...- clarknova

Grado sr325is and AKG K550 comparison?
K550 for what you wanna listen to. Grado's don't really shine for that type of music. That's my opinion at least. I love Grado's for metal.- clarknova

Amping for AKG Q701
I find that my Audioengine D1 does quite an excellent job amping the Q701's. My Schiit Valhalla does sound better but not by much. Honestly I can't believe the Audioengine D1's aren't more popular around here.- clarknova

Review and discussions - Audioengine D1 24/96 USB and Optical DAC/amp for laptops and computers
Well so far I'm still having no problems with it. Foobar required me to lower the buffer to 50ms to prevent the dreaded "popping". But after that pretty much all good. I do notice that when you are using the RCA output the volume knob controls the level of output which is a bit of a let...- clarknova

Review and discussions - Audioengine D1 24/96 USB and Optical DAC/amp for laptops and computers
Quote: Having just bought the D1 I can say without hesitation that if you don't need the very portable nature of the Fiio E17 with battery power than it might be better to go with the D1. I'm simply loving the sound this little DAC can produce. Very good instrument separation , very...- clarknova

HD650 + which DAC/AMP ?
I think the HD650 is more sensitive to amps than other headphones (not tons but a fair amount). Because the HD650 has really a different character too the vast majority of headphones out there. I'm not an expert and I don't claim to be and I've listened to lots of different and expensive...- clarknova

Schiit Valhalla. Seriously , incredible sound and it really mixes well with the HD650 as it takes away a large portion of the "dark" sound the HD650 is famous for. Truly no regrets with buying it.- clarknova

Once you dock the E7 or the E17 I would imagine it auto switches both to USB ONLY mode. You can't run optical out unless you undock it. The E9 has always been like this.- clarknova
