I've not had that problem. In fact, apart from a bit of dust mine still look brand new and I used them almost every day. Do you carry them in your bag? I usually hold them around my neck or place them on my office desk. Maybe (not accusing) you put them in your bag with keys or...- Stealthy Ninja

I only tried the M100 for a few minutes in the shop before choosing the L2 over them (having owned the L1 before, I knew what I was getting myself into isolation wise). I could imagine them getting uncomfortable for the reasons you said. However Sweden is a lot colder than Hong Kong, maybe...- Stealthy Ninja

Oh sorry, in that case, yes I agree with you apart from the part where you say "you'll disturb the people around you with the leakage". They actually don't leak (out) that much and in a crowded enviroment where you need to crank them up, they're not going to hear your music anyway. I've...- Stealthy Ninja

I'd say the L2 > Momentum for my tastes (sound wise). However, I'm not a fan of Sennheiser. The momentum probably has better isolation, not that I've tested them together. If you could compare the L2 to true open back headphones you'd find the isolation a lot better. But since...- Stealthy Ninja

I agree, the L1 bass (after comparing to the L2) is much more apparent. I personally think the bass in the L2 is close to perfect. I don't listen to classical music at all (mainly rock) but I don't like overpowering bass. HOWEVER, I do like to be able to hear the bass and I want it to...- Stealthy Ninja

I liked my L1s quite a bit, but the L2 are better. The statement "the headphone the L1 should have been" is a good one.- Stealthy Ninja

On the MTR (train system in Hong Kong) I often find the train too loud and don't even bother. I think this would be similar to "subway" type trains in say New York, Paris, Tokyo. If you're talking long commute trains like they have in Sydney, they'd probably be ok. Like I said...- Stealthy Ninja

Review: Philips Fidelio L1 [Updated 5/14]
I own the L1 and the L2. The L1 has more bass and more recessed mids and highs. Basically speaking the L2 has better controlled bass and much better mids and highs. Overall it's a better headphone in most ways.- Stealthy Ninja

Hey maybe I invented a term. LOL I did like the X1 and I can get them pretty cheap at a particular shop. Seems the X2 might be coming and perhaps the price is dropping. I'm in wait and see mode. If you call the X1's instruments distant. Then I'd call the L2's instruments close.- Stealthy Ninja

For me (I played some Beastie Boys through them) the bass on the X1 overpowered the music and wasn't as well controlled as the L2, I have high hopes for the X2 when/if it comes. I really dislike bass veil (is that a term?). Anyway, sound stage they were pretty similar. I think perhaps the...- Stealthy Ninja

The other day I tried the L2s with the LCD-2, Q701 and X1. All played on an AMP setup worth $20,000hkd ($2500usd). The LCD-2s were amazing. So clear and beautiful sounding. I had to take them off quickly so I wouldn't be too tempted (maybe later ). The X1 was great with classical...- Stealthy Ninja

Music > Gaming > Movie All-round Cans
You know what's weird, I really don't like too much bass, but I quite like the DT990 premium 250 ohms I own and I don't think it has too much bass.. Then again I mainly use them for gaming and movies so a bit more bass is good for those two things (explosions sound good). Also the larger...- Stealthy Ninja

I own a set of DT990 premiums. I'd say go for the DT990 pro. I bought them after reading this: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-9-2-2013-sony-ma900-added I've been very happy with them. They're very comfortable too, can wear them for hours...- Stealthy Ninja

Why not beats by Dre?
Well, it's my first time replying to a Beats thread, so here I go... When I first thought I might buy a nice set of headphones I thought perhaps I'd buy the beats, they were/are pretty ubiquitous and I thought they looked ok, so I did some searching online and found head-fi. In the end...- Stealthy Ninja

Just a little warning. IF you're the type that needs a lot of isolation for portables or you will be around a lot of traffic/people talking, and the sound of rumbling traffic (they let low frequencies in) or being able to hear people talk around you bothers you. Then go for something else...- Stealthy Ninja

In Hong Kong: $2850 for the L2 ($355usd) $2430 for the HD600 ($300usd) $3150 foe HD650 ($390usd) $7,488 for the HD700 ($935usd) I realise the L2 is kinda pricy compared to other countries. €200 euros is basically $2000HKD.- Stealthy Ninja

Yeh I agree, if you need isolation use IEMs or something more closed. I was thinking maybe Philips could make a cap to go over the grill to increase isolation when needed. If I cover them with my hands (obviously) the isolation increases by quite a bit. I am going to search for...- Stealthy Ninja

From the winter guide: Quote: I'd totally agree with this. If the sound of a track distorts/clips you notice it more without the bass veiling everything (L1). Side note: I really like the Fisher FA-003 for work/office use. They have quite good sound for the price, are...- Stealthy Ninja

Depends on how loud you have your music. I played some Black Flag at a bit above what I'd call normal volume levels and put it on my leg I could hear some sound like music in the distance (this is from about 50cm away though. If I cover the cups I hear nothing. So yeh they leak a little...- Stealthy Ninja

Well I don't know about better than every closed headphone it competes with, it would depend on if you like headphones without much bass and with emphasis on the highs. I think the K702 would be better. I know the DT990 is better (and with that a lot of people would also like the DT880). I...- Stealthy Ninja
