Need amp/dac for 2.0 and headphones.

I haven't had enough time on the headphones to make a decision but this thing can push a pair of inefficient cans real loud. I needed to bump the bass up for the speakers but had to turn it back down with headphones otherwise it sounds bloated. I think this setup will be fine until I get out of...

Need amp/dac for 2.0 and headphones.

The R-S201 is in. Paired with the ODAC it's highly objective listening. I never noticed how much the NAD colored everything and feel like it's almost missing something now but I'm sure my ears will adjust.

Need amp/dac for 2.0 and headphones.

I was checking out those emotivas but they're just too long for my shelf (15" depth). The Yamaha is probably the smallest depth receiver I've seen so it'd actually fit, it's 12 5/8" vs 13 1/2 of my NAD (barely fits on the shelf). It's also the cheapest option with the most power of the lot so I...

This samson servo 120a looks impressive as well but haven't seen much info on these in terms of SQ and reliability. 8 Ohm, <0.05% THD+N: 50 W

Need amp/dac for 2.0 and headphones.

I noticed that. I've seen a few 2 channel amps that have RCA outs though. Just stumbled across this: Audioengine N22. 22W RMS into 8 ohms plus built in headphone amp. Pretty much what I'm looking for, would like to see what else is out there that is similar.

I was checking that out in comparison to the Schiit Magni but didn't see anything that really pointed one better than the other. Any thoughts on it? It looks a bit nicer.

Need amp/dac for 2.0 and headphones.

The Aune is the X1 + X2 combo. The NAD 7100 has an excellent headphone out, which is currently the only thing that never gives me any trouble so that's what I've been using. I'd rather have 1 less than 1 more, which is why I was thinking of an all in one unit. I guess it doesn't really matter...

Need amp/dac for 2.0 and headphones.

This is just at my desk in a smallish room so it never has to get extremely loud. I have a Denon AVR-2113CI for the HT Setup. I'd like to have something with twice the power of the TP30 but I can't find anything that does the same thing in a similar size package. I could go as much as $300 but...

Need amp/dac for 2.0 and headphones.

Wanting to change around my setup since my 30 year old NAD receiver is dying on me. Wondering if there is anything besides the Topping TP30 out there in the way of simple, compact, all in one and if not, is the TP30 capable of pushing my A60's and eventually (should be the same power...

Quote:   I'm glad I found the NAD and it was a steal at $40, especially with a working remote and functioning volume motor.    They're easily the best I've tried so far but I haven't really been anywhere that lets you demo the higher end ($300+) stuff and have been avoiding doing so...

Nothing fancy, but the whole audio setup was under $500 and for that price I have no complaints!      The setup as seen in the picture:    Cans: MrSpeakers Mad Dog Modded Fostex T50RP   Speakers: Boston Acoustics A60 Amp: NAD 7100 Dac: ODAC

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

Quote: I got mine on without modification. It is very difficult and you can easily tear one of the pads. I ended up with a small rip in one but I had also tried sewing it first a la sock mod like LFF's setup but my sewing skills are so poor that it wasn't working and I took the sock...

Quote: Yes, just simply meant that he doesn't immediately have to rip up his work if it sounds good to him. Just saying it can sound great with it closed up and not to be closed minded thinking that you can only achieve good sq with bass ports.

It's been said a few times but I think it bears repeating...looking at the "paradox" modded headphones (completely sealed) you don't need the bass vents.

I've used raamat and it doesn't have any odors. Can't comment on fatmat.

I've seen a few of you guys swapping between cotton and fiberglass. Haven't noticed anyone try a blend of the three fills, polyfill, fiberglass and cotton. Has anyone done this?

Quote: This is a brilliant post that sums up most of my thoughts on this. I would like to add though that I think there are three reasons people get into the the DIY scene and some combinations thereof. To save money, to learn how things work, to improve upon something.   I personally...

Quote: Did you use dynamat or equivalent under the paxmate when you had it installed? I'm wondering if it is really required since I'm betting it adds a significant amount of weight and seems like a slightly tedious endeavor to install. No one has mentioned using it in quite a few pages...

I don't see that our local hardware store has it on their website but I've yet to go check it out personally.    Is this the stuff you were talking about? http://www.atsacoustics.com/item--Owens-Corning-703--1002.html

Is there fiberglass dedicated to sound or is it something like a small bit of blown in insulation that you'd have to find?

Fiberfill isn't hard to come by, any craft section should have it. Is there a specific brand and grade of fiberfill that works best though?
