Sure it's depending sooo much on the amp ! Beyer T1 Gen1 with the right amp is a wonderful headphones

Think it's true - my T1 shines with the tubes of the icon audio hp8 mkII - I believe it's at least as good with the Elise - with my SS amp teac ha-501, it lacks power ans body

For these headphones I use a Teac Ha-501 and/or an Icon audio Hp8 mkii + a hrt streamerii+ dac Honestly the DT1770 is the better one, in every department. There is obviously more bass,the trebles are much more detailed, the dynamic is better, there is no "plasticky" tone in mids and highs...

It depends so much on the dac/amp...my T1 1st gen is below average with some amps ans great with others

Hmmmm...coming from the HE-400 I think you would miss some bass with the K550 I own it but have upgraded to the beyer dt1770 and I dont use the K550 anymore It lacks a bit of bass ans the trebles are "plasticky" un comparison to my other headphones (x2,t1,dt880,dt1770) I think you can find...

I understand the LCD2 can be preferred to the DT1770 but it's open headphones I also prefer the airier sound of my T1 vs my DT1770, but it's not fair comparing open vs closed

Actually it's not that you can't reach enough volume - it's more about dynamics, better midrange, fuller sound and much more reserve of power Did you already try a tube amp with the T1 ?

F....g good with my Fidelio X2 and my new Beyer Dt1770 ! Very clean, a little bit less midrange than my Icon audio hp8 mkii The Teac felt a bit short with my hungry T1, but great with many others

So you can compare ! The synergy is great with the Beyer T1 which is 600 ohms - it's a very powerful amp too, no need to go more than 10 with the Beyer And great with low impedance cans also, such as AKG K550 and DT880
