    i20 interference noise (possibly ghosts)

I never heard of a headphone cable not being able to handle certain power outputs, but I just tried the mad dog with a v-moda cable and adapter, but no luck. That leaves defective unit or ghost as the currently possibilities.

    i20 interference noise (possibly ghosts)

I realize this may be a dumb question since it doesnt seem to bother my normal listening sessions, but its been bugging me recently so I thought I would ask. I'm looking for some advice on my pure i20 and a strange noise I have been hearing. The i20 is being used as a dock only feeding my DAC...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

I just received the HE-400 today and it seems to be DOA. The right driver must be defective since no sound comes out and something is rattling inside the right cup. Also it seems like the whole driver is not secured properly. If I pull on the pad the whole driver almost comes out of the cup. I...

    Favorite Film Scores

Here is the link for the Dark Knight Rises Soundtrack. I just finished listening to the whole thing and I'm even more excited for the movie now. It sounds like a mix of The Dark Knight and Inception. http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=34498

    Q701 impressions thread

I don't wear my glasses when listening so it has to be the headphones creating the sound. It happens more when i move my head or jaw a little and not as much if I'm constantly moving around. Almost seems like the joint is getting stuck and then creaks when it readjusts to the new angle after...

    Q701 impressions thread

Does anyone else have a slight plastic "creaking" sound coming from the left side when moving your head around? It seems to be coming from the pivot joint when the ear cup is moved slightly. The noise is only noticeable when your wearing them and listening at low volumes or on quiet songs...

College student confused about headphone choices

The 225i is a great headphone as well but not for everyone. Comfort wasn't the best and the giant cord can get in the way a little but If sound is your only concern it's a good contender for the genres you listed. It's also easy to drive so it will probably sound good right from your receiver.

College student confused about headphone choices

You should look into the HD600. It's the best all around headphone I have used so far and should work great with a tube amp. You could look into building a bottlehead crack which is suppose to be a great with the HD600.

    Best iPhone Games

I just got this game the other day and it's awesome! Thanks for the suggestion.

owned HD650, DT880... something nice, but down a step?

You could also look into the grado line. I have the 225i and it's easy to drive and sounds awesome with most music. It's not for everyone but worth looking into with your budget.

    my little dot mk3....

Tube rolling gives you the ability to tweak the sound to match certain headphones or your specific taste. This thread has alot of good info on the different tubes and what they sound like.   http://www.head-fi.org/t/563884/little-dot-tube-amps-vacuum-tube-rolling-guide

    P4 the Warbler a new portable amp from iBasso . . first impression pg 3 . images Pg 6&7 . . .

The P4 does a pretty good job with the HD600 when I compare it to my LD MKIII. The biggest difference seems to be the bass impact/extension and soundstage. The P4 seems to be more upfront sounding with less depth so it's a little flatter and not as full sounding. I also use the Q701 with the P4...

    A

I had the AD900 and SR225i at the same time and I think the grado was better with hard rock genres. The bass impact was a lot better on the grado and the agressive presentation works better than the airy sound of the AT. I think the difference was pretty big between the two. With the grado you...

    Sennheiser hd 650's popping

The connectors to the headphones can become loose over time but if the headphones are new i would exchange them. Have you tried unplugging the cord or did you just making sure its pushed in all the way? Try moving the cord around and see if you can reproduce the sound. Also try plugging them...

    In the Market

I think it's described as "dark" because the emphasis is on the low end. It handles bass very well and is never boomy but can be a little slow sounding on faster music. On the other hand the low end emphasis gives the music a nice weight and fullness. I almost always use the 650 when listening...

    Fake Grados?

They probably just forgot the paper when they packaged it. Those boxes dont looks very different it could just be different lighting or a slight box variation. My box looks the same as yours and i have the SR225i as well.

    Q701 impressions thread

Just received my Q701 last week and so far I'm very impressed with them. The bass is better than I expected and these worried they might be a little harsh but it's nice and smooth.

I agree. I hope I didn't make it sound like the 600 is lacking in bass because it definitely is not.

    In the Market

The HD650 has a more full body/relaxed sound with more low end presence. The HD600 has a more balanced sound which make it more forward sounding. The HD650 has more depth to the soundstage and maybe a little more open sounding but this may all depend on your amp and source. Both are equally...

how good does the "little dot mk3" perform?

My favorite so far is the GE JAN5654W. The GE tube has nice clarity and a more exciting sound which pairs nicely with the sennheisers. The mullard M8100/CV4010 is my second favorite and tons of people love it. I like the mullard as well but to me it isn't as exciting as the GE tube but is a nice...
