Best amplifier/receiver for a 50w and 100w transducer for $100-150?
Not exactly... I ended up with the Behringer, but what I didn't realize is I really need an input gain boost as well as a low pass filter. Guess I should've looked for a dedicated bass amp with all of that built in.- spom

Best amplifier/receiver for a 50w and 100w transducer for $100-150?
No one? I think I've narrowed it down to these two: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0MJ-0022-00048 and http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-EPQ450-BEHRINGER-EUROPOWER/dp/B00508JFKI/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top The Yamaha seems like it'd be a bit more versatile, but I'm...- spom

Reply to review by 'spom' on item 'FiiO X1 Ultraportable Hi-Res DAP'
How is this better than say, a Rockboxed Sansa Clip+ (or a smart phone like a Note 2)? Much cheaper and the audio quality on it is bar non better than an iPod (at least from the 3.5mm jack), has no problem driving a set of M50's. The battery life also seems quite anemic at 11 hours. Also...- spom

Best amplifier/receiver for a 50w and 100w transducer for $100-150?
Hi all, I'm a relative newbie to the audio world outside headphones.Feel free to move this if it's in the wrong section. I also didn't see any stickies on amps/receivers for given price ranges on the subforum, but if there are some, feel free to point me to them. Recently I'm gotten a...- spom

How many songs do you have in your music library?
11668 track, but they're not all unique, some duplicates. Totals ~80gb in varying quality. I haven't been expanding my library much lately since I mostly use Spotify to stream new music I've found.- spom

Recommend me an AMP for my setup (Logitech Z-2300 speakers, Audiotechnica ATH-A900, AuraSound AST-2B-4 Pro Transducer)
Been a while since I posted, but I'd like some input on how to handle this setup. I'm running Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers, and just purchased this and bolted it to the lower back side of my computer chair: AuraSound Transducer I purchased this AMP with it: Lepai LP-168HA I'm...- spom

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
I currently have a set of ATH-A900's at home. I got them around October/November and love them. I'd like to get a set of headphones relatively close to this I could use at work that wouldn't look as ridiculous as these do. I also have a set of ATH ES55's and SJ55's I got for portable use...- spom

AKG K518 DJ or...?
I'm going to post here because the other threads I've posted in haven't had hardly any traffic, and I'm in a similar situation. Looking for a portable set, and the K518/518DJ, AKG K450, Audio Technica ES55, and Soundmagic P30's are all options. Mostly looking for a portable set, preferably...- spom

ATH-PRO700MK2 or ATH-M50? Which of the Audio Technica cans?
Look into the A900's at all? I haven't heard either of the sets you listed, but I was sort of deciding between the M50 and A900. From the reading I did, the A900 has heavier bass. Personally I couldn't be more please with them. Will you be getting an amp to go along with them? From my...- spom

Soundmagic P30, badly matched drivers?
Any update? I've deciding between these, AKG K450's, and Audio Technica ES55's. I was leaning toward the P30's, but I'm not too sure... The ES55's are the least portable, and I don't like that each cup has a cord coming from it. The K450's a little pricey, and the detachable cable might wear out.- spom

"Best" Closed Foldable/Portable headphones?
Not for now. I tend not to use in ear phones unless I'm at the gym/doing something very active where normal phones would fall off, generally that involves sweating too, which cause problems for in-ears. I've gone through probably 4-5 sets of cheap Sony's from active use. Surprisingly my current...- spom

"Best" Closed Foldable/Portable headphones?
I'll mostly be listening to various kinds of rock (hard rock, instrumental, post-metal, post-rock, progressive, psychedelic, etc), as well as ambient, and electronic. Those Koss phones look a bit bigger than I'd like for a portable set, I'd probably just go for M50's if I were to get...- spom

"Best" Closed Foldable/Portable headphones?
First off, I'm relatively new to the headphone world... I just got my first "big boy" headphones a couple months ago, Audio Technica ATH-A900's, along with a FiiO E7 portable amp/DAC. I couldn't be more pleased with them, I love the sound out of the box and feel no need/want to equalize them...- spom

Review: MEElectronics HT-21 – Loud & Clear!
So between these, the AKG K430, and Audio Technica ATH-FC700A's (or another unmentioned portable set), which is the best overall sound quality and isolation? I'm hearing some of you say these are pretty harsh/aggressive which makes me think they're not for me. I'm relatively new to the...- spom
