    A slim subwoofer?

Oh wow.    This is going to be a bit to digest; I didn't even know about a bunch of these companies. Thanks guys - this is a HUGE help. That Definitive Supercube looks pretty good...

    A slim subwoofer?

Thanks for the replies. That list is going to take some time to go through.    One of those 8" subs look pretty good.    Since cost and size are a concern I don't need anything mindblowing, but just to fill out the sound from two bookshelves. I guess my primary criteria is that the sub...

    A slim subwoofer?

I just got a pair of bookshelves (newegg currently has a great deal on some Pioneer bookshelves - 85 bucks for a pair) and a receiver and I want to add a subwoofer to the setup. I like the aesthetic I have going on in my apartment so I've been looking for slim subwoofers that look like the ones...

    Questions on the SRH-840

After a while they can get heavy. I don't mind too much but that's because I don't move much when I'm using them, as a little movement and they can threaten to fall off fro momentum. I've been contemplating modding them to be lighter, but with the choice between a long (and heavy) coiled cable...

Need some new more feminine headphones for outside wear

I bought some Skullcandy Aviators for a friend. I like their sound and I don't think they're too masculine for girls. They have an understated cool, imo, and despite sticking for a set of headphones, they sorta blend into your outfit depending on what you're wearing.

Any Imfo here about building/modding headphones from 'gun shooting ear defenders'?

How about cannibalizing some 3" drivers out of a desktop speaker? :D That earpro certainly looks like it has the space to accommodate. Could be fun.

    AKG k121 or Shure SRH440

Not having heard any Grados to compare against, I'll say that I like listening to rock on my phones. The 440's are fairly neutral so it'll do all things well (or at least nothing poorly.) In my opinion, these phones are highly detailed and will shine through really complex guitar solos and will...

    AKG k121 or Shure SRH440

On the go? Yes absolutely. That is, if you're going to go somewhere and then sit down in a hotel room or something.    These headphones are pretty cumbersome for use in a subway or on a plane unless you get about a straight 3.5' or so cable with a 3.5mm head and a 2.5 mm head. The stock...

The best headphone money can buy?

Quote:   Is that right? I'm new to these forums but Hi-Fi has always meant to me, "high fidelity" which would be pretty concrete and wouldn't make sense with any modifiers. I could see it being "pure high end German" sounding, but I don't understand "pure high end German Hi-Fi" if it...

Oh No - Beats Pro'sand Bose QC15's - Please Suggest Something Better

I think you might consider keeping the Bose set for the noise cancellation.    If you have the money to drop on both the Beats Pro, and the QC15s, you'd best look above the ATH-M50. I like them, but they're easily outdone for the amount of money you have disposable.

Hey! Finally, good to be here!

One thing to note is that since everyone has different tastes, pretty much every headphone will have its detractors. It's literally impossible to please everyone as the various categories of music preferences are mutually exclusive.    Not that I'm any kind of expert but it may help other...

Closed Back Cans for about $150

I'd like to vote for the Shure offering, when compared against the M50. I like the M50 and think it has better extension in both directions, but the Shure sounds fuller and hits with more detail. I really like the clean sound from these cans.  Note: I have the 440, not the 840, but by all...

    Closed headphone: Shure SRH840, ATH-M50?

I don't think the M50's are that bad. I kind of like them, actually. I wouldn't pay full retail for them right now, but at their original price, or pre-owned price, they're worthwhile in my opinion. The sound is V shaped, but it's not like a crevasse in a glacier or anything, just a warm...

    Headphones most suitable for kpop?

lol. Secret - "Shyboy" is the song that made me appreciate my SRH440's when I heard harmonies that I didn't notice before. Needed the song for a project and now I'm a Secret fan.

A good high-end headphone, that's also very stylish, any recommendations? -i'm a noob-

This is a good reference: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/celebrity-headphone-deathmatch-winners-and-loosers   Here's just an excerpt, but I recommend you check out at least the whole page I've linked to, if not the entire article.

    Are Beats Studio's worth $200?

I don't think any apologies are necessary. Welcome to the internet, where people gloss over something and suddenly have a strong opinion about it and then feel the necessity to voice it. I just do my best to be helpful but this is the reality of the internet. That some people feel the need to...

    Are Beats Studio's worth $200?

Who said the XB700 have bad sound quality? http://www.head-fi.org/products/sony-mdr-xb700-50mm-xb-diaphragm-driver-extra-bass-headphones/reviews   They're not the best at producing studio quality sound but they're certainly better than Beats so-called "Studio" headphones. These will also...

    Are Beats Studio's worth $200?

Any closed headphones won't leak enough to be a real issue, unless you're blasting your music off to hearing-damage-inducing levels.   You can try out the Aviators at a Best Buy. They often have their own demo kiosk, but I would just go to the general demo section so you can try out a bunch...

    Are Beats Studio's worth $200?

15 and a half years old with 300 USD (the Solo runs around 200USD) disposable to spend on a product for looks and a wonky sound signature? If you really like all of that then it's worth it. I always say that if there's something you'll really enjoy and appreciate, no dollar amount will ever...

Best headphones under $100? Not as simple as I thought.

I love my SRH440's. I suppose when I want my music to sound frisky I can use the "Electronic" EQ setting on iTunes. IMO, emotion best comes from the artist, so it's not like any songs you hear will suddenly sound like PhD dissertations.

Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats

It was really painful read, absolutely.    Personally, I wouldn't change my opinion about my hypothetical Beats if someone told me they sounded like trash. My mantra has been, "you like those? Check out these [appropriate suggestion for music type]." That's just my opinion but I dragged us...
