HD-5 and MZ-RH1 on a Mac?
Hi everyone, Once and for all (after a reasonably long search across the internets), is there anyway I can use my Sony HD-5 and MZ-RH1 with my Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard? Large library on iTunes, with most tracks as mp3s. If not, I guess I'll just have to sell them. -...- chatoyer

Keep Using Sony NW-A806 or turn to Ipod Classic?
I'm wondering the same thing. 160GB is tempting, but I've invested a lot in Sony gear over the years (as well as one or two smaller iPods for podcasts) and I still keep coming back to the SQ of the Sony units. The new Classic doesn't even have a user-controlled EQ by band. I mean, What? I...- chatoyer

Is the sony rh1 the best sounding player readily available?
I generally pop in an MD and then let it play, but I do use groups (basically 1 album = 1 group). I use PCM to record only, and then upload to my laptop.- chatoyer

Is the sony rh1 the best sounding player readily available?
I've been using an RH1 for a few months now myself. Hands down beats anything I've ever used, including my one-year-old Sony HD5 (although perhaps not by much). I don't use the remote at all: when I first got the unit, I used the remote to set up a personal EQ that I just stick with. The changes...- chatoyer

Shure E4c: Tip selection advice
Those Complys - they don't appear to be suitable for the e4 (i.e., not on their list). Has anyone used them with the e4s? By the way, I tried the clear sleeves last night for a few hours - great fit and sound quality was quite close to the yellow foamies, although I do think the latter...- chatoyer

Shure E4c: Tip selection advice
I find the yellow foamies provide the best comfort, fit and sound, but I have to admit I often swear at them when I fail to get a good seal. Once they're in though, wow... having said that - i may just dig out the other tips just for fun...- chatoyer

Walkmans, Atrac and Sony HD5 lineout?
sony is rumoured to be introducing a new HDD player in the new year (I think i saw this on www.atraclife.com). Also, MD is not really dead. I just picked up the new RH1 unit and it is absolutely a dream. Can record in Linear PCM and the sound quality is superb. Showed it, along with my Shure...- chatoyer

Sony NWHD3 = RIP...searching for greener pastures.
Hmmm. Not sure I can add any specific advice re: the problem with connecting the HD3, other than re-initialising it and starting over? What version of SS are you using? If it's fairly recent, it should have the backup tool so you can backup your library before you initialise. With my laptop...- chatoyer

Sony NWHD3 = RIP...searching for greener pastures.
Sorry to hear about the HD3. I just picked up the new RH1 HiMD from Sony and couldn't be happier. It is a nice compliment to my HD5. I know a lot of people come down on ATRAC, but if you're like me and buy your CDs, I find the ATRAC codec combined with the Sony hardware/architecture to be...- chatoyer

Creative muvo TX FM sound quality?
I've got a 1GB muvo tx fx and a pair of E4Cs. They work well together, although I only use the muvo for podcasts and with the E4Cs when I travel. Bottom line: you'll be fine.- chatoyer

Help Me. Any reasons to avoid the SONY NW-HD5?
Have a black HD5, purchased a few weeks ago, and use with e4c and Senn PX200 cans. Sound quality superb, and hands down beats any iPod I've ever listened to (same songs, same cans). Sonicstage has been fine for me (version 3.2). It does exactly what it is meant to do. It's not pretty, but...- chatoyer

My external hd doesn't work my laptop...help!!!
Windows ME will need USB 2.0 drivers, as far as I know. But, it could be that your USB ports on the computer are simply not USB 2.0 on spec. Does the HD case have a DC plug (usually something like 5 volts)? If so, try giving it some power that way. Quite often, laptops and their USB ports do not...- chatoyer

Shure E4c.... am I missing something???
Was in Singapore the other day and picked up a pair of E4c. Went with the foam tips (and bought 20 extras) initially and got a great seal. Initial impressions were quite strong: excellent, punchy bass (not entirely boomy, but depends on recording) and the mid and highs were crisp and clear. Very...- chatoyer
