How does this compare to other DAC's in the $500.00USD range?   If I get it I'm planning on using it only in a home/non-mobile environment.

What's the rationale behind choosing 600 ohm for the Beyerdynamic DT 990? Wouldn't the 32 ohm option be easier to drive perhaps negating the need for an amp?
