Have Westone UM2 and Headphonia amp. Need a DAP suggestions.

I am also hearing rave reviews about sound quality of a minidisk player Sony MZ-RH1. It is thought to have a dedicated lineout with a very good quality. Is it a good choice?

Have Westone UM2 and Headphonia amp. Need a DAP suggestions.

So I have a nice pair of Westone UM2. And a pretty good Headphonia amp (my first one, sounds great, but there is some hiss with UM2). So I need a DAP with 8GB or more space. The main concern is sound quality. My choices so far: 1) Trekstor vibez 12Gb. 250$ (Is told to be among the best on...

    UM2 Vs Shure E500

I've read through all this thread and I still don't get it. Would you guys recommend exchanging my UM2 + 100$ for E500? I am happy with UM2, though I find the highs on ER6i more enjoyable. Do you think the e500 would be a significant upgrade?

How do im716 compare to er6i and um2 in terms of loudness (sensititvity)

Hmm, this gets confusing. 3X0, what level do you listen to wth ER4p and im716? tbonner1, what other phones do you have and at what volume do you listen?

So they are much worse than ER6i in terms of ease to drive? Er6i are ok on my RIO

How do im716 compare to er6i and um2 in terms of loudness (sensititvity)

I have a weak source (RIO nitrus) and I'd like to know if im716 will suit me. I want to replace er6i with them. I listen at 65% volume (16-19) to my UM2. at 80%(21-24) to my ER6i, when I had ER6 I had to turn it up to 90-100% (26-30). How would you compare the sensitivity and ability to...

UM2 is a killer, but I still appreciate the highs of ER6i. Should I try IM716?

So basically I got my UM2 three months ago. They are a suburb sounding IEM. I prefer them much more to the ER6i when listening to rock and pop music. At first I didn't get the highs with the UM2. I used the comply tips. Then I cut off the excessive foam from the top of the long tips, because...

    Will high volume damage um2?

I've had exactly same question. I plugged my UM2 into laptop after listening to low-sensitivity phones and I forgot to lower the volume. UM2 screamed for 5 seconds before I could mute the sound. Luckilly I wasn't wearing them I've emailed my concerns to Westone and got this reply from their...

um2 or e4c or 5 pro : on the go, noisy, ampless Rio.

Well now I am totally confused, because I've heard bad words about these three phones from different people. Actually I was choosing from um2 and e4c. I thought UM2 would be better because of it's bass, which would be helpful in noisy environments. But now kugino and honda say they got...

What's the difference between foamies and comply tips?

um2 or e4c or 5 pro : on the go, noisy, ampless Rio.

honda, I will be waiting for your impressions on e4. Hope you will post them as soon you can. By the way why do you call them Shure E4cNJ? Are they the same as Shure E4c? One more question, which of IEMs offer best isolation using foam tips (I find silicone painful and don't use it)?

um2 or e4c or 5 pro : on the go, noisy, ampless Rio.

Well I just don't know if this upgrade is worth the extra 200$. By the way how do all these phones compare to ER4p, which can be had for 220 $? If not for the comfort I'd probably stick with them as I just don't want to miss details that ety's provide. If I loose just a bit of these "high-end...

um2 or e4c or 5 pro : on the go, noisy, ampless Rio.

Well I got ER6 used just for 60$, so I would be a bit dissapointed if I pay 250-300$ for E4,um2 or 5 pro and they won't give the feeling of significant upgrade I've had moving from e2 to er6. I know, this is pretty much subjective, but I would like to hear your own experience from moving from...

um2 or e4c or 5 pro : on the go, noisy, ampless Rio.

I am leaning towards UM2, but they are out of stock here, so I'll have to make a purchase without auditioning. So question is, which on of the phones I listed is most close to ER6, but with less microphonic and offer best isolation and sound.

um2 or e4c or 5 pro : on the go, noisy, ampless Rio.

I would go with ER4, if not the awful microphonics (people say it is even worse on ER4 than on ER6). I want something like ER6. With similar details, better bass and mids and portability. What would be the closest choice: UM2, E4 or 5 pro?

lostbobby, I see you have(or had?) all of the phones I am choosing from. I would appreciate a little bit more information from you. Don't you find UM2 superior to the e4c an 5 pro? And which would you recommend as a step up from ER6 but with a bit more bass and fuller sound? Unfortunately...

um2 or e4c or 5 pro : on the go, noisy, ampless Rio.

Well, actually I was quite shocked when I switched from shure E2 to er6 . I couldn't believe that in-ears could sound that good. But after months passed, I find that sound on Etys is a bit thin... compared to my Stax Also please note that I have ER6 not ER6i (which is known to be more...

um2 or e4c or 5 pro : on the go, noisy, ampless Rio.

One more boring advice thread. If anyone wish to help I would be glad. Basicly I need a durable superior-sounding IEM for on the go (noisy subways, etc) for my Rio Nitrus (ampless). Under 300$. I listen to all styles of music, mostly Indie. Pricing in my place: 1. Shure E4c - 230$ 2...

Can STAX earspeaker be damaged with loud sound?

Well, thank you guys for your posts. I just wanted make clear. Ofcourse, i am not crazy to listen to 6 ) I set it this high just to control volume with soundcard's mixer. it is more convinient for me. So usually I listen with 5-10 db attenuation of STAX's 6, that equivalents to about 4-5 Stax...

Can STAX earspeaker be damaged with loud sound?

Hmm, normalizing is an option, but I don't think i want to sacrifice sound quality ) Spritzer, so do you think that maximum output on 6/10 volume position couldn't do any harm? that's good news. I am just interested, how STAX accomplish this

Can STAX earspeaker be damaged with loud sound?

Hello everyone! Yesterday I was listening to some quiete classical exerpt on my favorite STAX 3030 combo. The volume was set on 6 (of 10). can listening iems only on one ear do any damage?

I think yes, as listening in one ear causes you to increase the volume 1.5x-2x more then usual. If you listen at the same level as usual, then I don't think it could do harm.
