The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
Well my DX50 just arrived. Popped in my MicroSD from the X3, plugged in my Beyerdynamic DT1350 and started listening to The Piano Guys. You know that feeling when you're listening to something really good, and it's like your ears are being tickled... This was it. The DX50 and DT1350s sound...- severim

The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
Turns out mine should've arrived yesterday. Emailed iBasso late last night asking if it had been shipped. Received a tracking code. When I looked it up, apparently they'd tried to deliver yesterday but couldn't reach me. Grrr. Hopefully they'll attempt to deliver again tomorrow.- severim

Walkman NWZ F886 officialy announced!! [192khz/24bits]
I'm stunned at the 36h, do they describe the test scenario for that number? Wifi off, mp3 vs flac, etc? Maybe it was just the F807 that had a terrible battery...- severim

Walkman NWZ F886 officialy announced!! [192khz/24bits]
If Sony added microsd it'd be a much easier sell. With X3, DX50, there's not a whole lot beyond the sexy design in my eyes. As an F807 walkman owner, I'd also worry about the battery life of the new model considering it has Android under the hood.- severim

IBasso DX50 vs Fiio X3 comparison thread
Quote: Better firmware support is arguable. We've seen pretty responsive updates from Fiio to-date. The build-quality will also have to be determined once more people get their hands on them. Touch-screens are also known to be problem-magnet. Either way, I have an X3 and the...- severim

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Picked up an X3 over the weekend while I wait on my DX50. I've done some initial testing with my Westone 4R and Beyerdynamic DT1350s. So far, I'm very impressed with the audio quality. It is a significant improvement over my Cowon J3 and Walkman F807. I'm not the best at describing what...- severim

DX50 a new smaller DAP from iBasso. Spec. page 1. Impressions start on page. . .
Back after a vacation from the forums to discover this really nice looking DX50. Apart from the great technical features, the standouts for me are the bottom-placed headphone jacks (in comparison to the X3 which I was also considering) and the _replaceable_ i9300 battery. I'll be dropping by the...- severim

Advice needed please
People here would be glad to help but there's some key info missing. Budget? Does it need to be able to pay FLAC? Does it need to be expandable (ie microsd) How big is your music library? How much storage do you need? Does it need to fit in your pocket? How much battery life do you want/need...- severim

Cowon BBE, BBE+ good sound quality. Is it a Myth?
Thank you for the sensible counter-argument. I'd subscribed to the "no EQ preserves the originally intended sound" largely because I figured my equipment was fairly neutral (according to reports). Now, where can I find a good beginners introduction to EQing?- severim

Sony NWZ-F806 mini review (& F-series player reviews / impressions / discussion)
Luckily with the F800 series, the update is pretty minimal unless you're directly affected by one of the changes. It'd suck more of you had a Z1000-series which couldnt be updated to Android 4. Enjoy your device and avoid updates. :)- severim

Good news! It turns out the demo tracks are stored outside /Music, so they're all still there. Phew.- severim

EDIT: Hisound Audio to Release New DAP Product-Line (NOVA with micro SD card support)
I might be interested interested in the N3, but *not* if I have to pay for earbuds I don't want or need. I'll be interested if it's available standalone. I can't think of any member here who would purchase a DAP for the included earbuds/IEMs. We would all have better equipment already.- severim

Sony NWZ-F806 mini review (& F-series player reviews / impressions / discussion)
Anyone have a list of the demo music they have on the Japanese units? I deleted my Music folder (prior to setting up sync with a new install of MediaMonkey), only to realise I didn't have copies of all the demo tracks. Some weren't so bad so a list of the authors/tracks would be awesome. :)- severim

Cowon BBE, BBE+ good sound quality. Is it a Myth?
I've used and enjoyed the BBE presets on my J3 extensively. My main listening is with my Westone 4 IEMs and DT1350. A funny thing happened recently though, I've started listening to everything with flat or no EQ after reading someone say that's how the recording was intended to be heard (and...- severim

Sony NWZ-F806 mini review (& F-series player reviews / impressions / discussion)
Quote: I'm guessing that the Sony software for media sync might not work. However, I've only ever loaded music via drag and drop over USB, so I'm pretty sure that approach would work fine on a Mac.- severim

Are good DAPs extinct?
I agree with you on pricing/performance. I think if I was a manufacturer it would be a hard sell for something like a J3 when compared against a similar sized device that you can access facebook on it as well. As a J3 owner, it kills me that Cowon haven't refreshed it with more storage, but I...- severim

Are good DAPs extinct?
I think we are in transition phase. People thought phones could take place of dedicated players, so DAP manufacture and variety shrunk. We are realising that phones aren't yet perfect replacements for reasons ranging from limited storage, audio quality, media support. I think there is lots of...- severim
