HM-901
Just updated to firmware 2.001 right now. I agree as previously mentioned by other users that the mids and highs are more focused and clearer. Bass is still as good as it used to be. As for the UI, I'm liking the new look. I feel that the UI itself is adequate for a music player. It's obviously...- eargo

Tralucent Audio 1Plus2 IEM (Now With 'New' 1Plus2.2!) Impressions Thread
Too bad I don't live in Singapore. I have been wanting to try Tralucent cables with my 335 for the longest time. I recently tried the silver/gold cable with a UM 3DD and it really took it to another level- eargo

Thanks! That's the most likely explanation. No matter, as I still think it sounds terrific! Come to think of it, I remember Derek telling something similar but didn't seriously look into it. Goodbye SR mod...- eargo

After updating your HM-901 to 1.085, does the version number in the menu of the HM-901 stay at 1.080? Or should it specifically state 1.085? I recently updated mine but I can't get the version number to update.- eargo

My MH335DW took about 5 weeks when I ordered late Sept 2013 and got them early November. So, there is most likely an uptick in orders as the wait times got significantly longer.- eargo

Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II
Most likely your sound signature preference will come into play. If you like warm-neutral then the AK120 will be better for you. If you like neutral-bright, then the AK120II will be more suitable.- eargo

Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II
Thank you guys for the interesting and informative review. Makes a me feel a little better as an owner of the original AK120. I always thought of the AK120 as a very capable DAP but slightly let down by its amp section.- eargo

Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II
If you are willing to take the risk, there are some used AK120s in the FS section of the forum. And I believe they are selling well below $1200. I believe someone mentioned in this thread that the new DAC chips (CS4398) are in the same range as the Wolfson 8740. But AK did a much better job...- eargo

Tralucent Audio 1Plus2 IEM (Now With 'New' 1Plus2.2!) Impressions Thread
Perhaps the 1p2 vs Ref1 comparison could be analogous to an HD800 vs LCD3 comparison, where you can make a clear case for keeping both? I have not heard the Ref1 yet, so I do not know if this is really the case. Maybe those who own or have heard the Ref 1 can chime in.- eargo

Tralucent Audio 1Plus2 IEM (Now With 'New' 1Plus2.2!) Impressions Thread
Yeah, this thread has been pretty quiet as of late. I still think people who are looking for TOTL IEMs should still strongly consider the 1Plus2, as I find it one of the best IEMs available if you are looking for a transparent and revealing sound. As most early adopters of the Ref.1 have...- eargo

I had my MH335DW ear impressions made by Derek of Jaben HK. I must say that I have absolutely no fit problems with my Fitears. Fitears are really on a class of their own when it comes to quality. I'm not sure if this has been asked before. I'm looking for a 3-pin male TRS to a 4-pin female TRRS adapter. Does anyone know where I can find one? I have an IEM cable terminated to TRRS, but i want to be able to use it still with single ended sources. Thanks!- eargo

HM-901
In my opinion, both the AK120 and the HM901 are very good sounding. Slightly different tonality, with the HM901 having a slightly more aggressive sound compared to the AK120. AK120 is a bit warmer and smooth sounding. The AK120 benefits greatly from external amping. I used the AK120 with my...- eargo
