Aiyima A07 MAX - Initial Comparison and Review
I got my V3 a couple days ago too. The original opamps did not last long! I also found removable LM4562's - robbed them from an unused DAC. Went from grainy and kind of bloomy in the bass to a much smoother, even sound. Can't wait to try some more!- johnnyb

Upsampling with Topping E30
I usually try to stick with the original sample rate when possible, but there are some low-rez recordings (44.1k CD rips from the 1990's) that really benefit from upsampling. I'm thinking of a classical piece from Handel right now -- I love the way the music is played, but not the way it was...- johnnyb

Upsampling with Topping E30
I get the same effect on mine when I feed it with TV audio (streaming content seems to default to 48khz). However, the E30 can handle other digital sample rates just fine. There doesn't appear to be any built-in up-sampling in the Topping E30. You may however be able to do the up-sample from...- johnnyb

Review by 'johnnyb' on item 'Symphones V8 Drivers for Grado'
The Symphones V8 drivers are a replacment driver for Grado headphones. Now why would someone purchase a pair of Grados, only to perform a modification as dramatic as replacing the driver? I wondered this myself. I purchased my pair of Grado SR125i's a number of years ago, and enjoyed...- johnnyb

Topping NX4
I did some more portable listening earlier this week with the NX4DSD and HD650s with hi rez classical music. It continues to impress. Has anyone compared the NX4 DSD to the Nano iDSD BL?- johnnyb

Looking for a good pair of open-back headphones under 300
I too have been seeking that natural sound for acoustic, classical and jazz. I have DT880 in the 250 ohm version, and always found it wanting in the classical arena. A bit depressed in the mids for my taste. The HD650 is a step up however. Very natural classical music presentation. A little...- johnnyb

Headphones for Modern Rock? Grado 325e/RS2e vs HD650
I've got a lot of listening time on Grado SR125, and I've made modifications to deal with the Grado "bite". Probably the best one was TTVJ Flats on the ear pads, which completely removes your soundstage, but also eliminates some of the high peaks in response. I like these headphones for Rock...- johnnyb

Guide to using Raspberry Pis for Audiophile Projects
Great thread! I ran into the idea of Raspberry Pi for an audio streamer a little over a year ago when watching Hans Beekhuyzen's YouTube channel. I ordered a HifiBerry Digi+ Pro and put it together with a Raspberry Pi 3B. Quickly found out that it was a better source than my Android USB player...- johnnyb

Count me in! I've been curious to try some Symphones myself, and I can't resist 30% discount. How will these compare to stock Grado SR125 drivers?- johnnyb

Nuforce HA-200: High performance, Single Ended, Class-A Headphone Amplifier
Thanks for the great analysis! Helps explain why the Nuforce DAC and HA200 are such a great pairing. And maybe why some are not that impressed with the HA200.- johnnyb

Topping NX4
Are you certain that the NX4 is getting bit perfect output from the Andriod? Sometimes it's easy to get signal that is trans-coded to a different sampling rate.- johnnyb

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Good description they don't 'hype' the treble. I listen to a lot of acoustic music and am not left wanting well-defined treble by the HD650s.- johnnyb
