USB DAC for headphone amp and home stereo (Headroom Desktop amp?)

USB DAC for headphone amp and home stereo (Headroom Desktop amp?)
Thanks a lot for your reply. I guess I'll try to contact Mario one more time. It's just that if I get the Micro DAC separate I can go directly into my home stereo amp and I think the Desktop Amp with DAC doesn't let me bypass the headphone amp to just use the DAC since the output in the rear is...- Clemit

USB DAC for headphone amp and home stereo (Headroom Desktop amp?)
So you guys got me now, too. I want to upgrade. After reading Head-Fi for quite some time and buying Sennheiser and Grado headphones I would like to replace my Total Bithead (which I really like, btw). Since I'm using my computer as the sole source (notebook with external harddrive and apple...- Clemit

Opinions on Total Bithead Amp
I have an Acer notebook which I'm using as my sole source. I bought a Total Bithead and the switch from the headphone out of the computer to the USB true line out made a huge difference. Even with cheap headphones like the Sony EX-81 the difference was huge. In that way the Bithead is great and...- Clemit

Will an amp really make a difference?
I have the HD 650 as well and I'm using them with a TBH and my laptop as a source. The amp really makes a big difference, especially since the laptop doesn't have a line out and the headphone jack is simply not that great. You won't be able to drive the Senns to ear-damaging levels, though...- Clemit

Total Bithead or what?
I have a Total Bithead for my Laptop/Ipod and it's a bit weak for my Sennheiser 650. I guess the 595 are similar to drive. It's improved if I power from the batteries (higher voltage than USB) - you can always flip the switch. But than you cannot hook up an external power supply, in contrast to...- Clemit

Amplification Confusion
Hi Cole I can't say much about your setup but I have a Total Bithead to drive my HD650 from the laptop and you can't turn them up very far. Since USB only provides 5 volts, running from the batteries makes it a little better, but there is no way to hook up an external power supply to run with...- Clemit

got ipod mini 6gb, a little disapointed
I have to agree with fguihen. I absolutely love my 1G Mini but the minute I listened to it for the first time I thought it sounded somewhat flat, especially hardrock with lots of bass and guitar-heavy mids. Since the HD isn't that big you can't put all your music on there with a high bitrate...- Clemit

Best iPod accessories?
I don't go anywhere without my Mini and I swear by the remote. The click wheel is really hard to operate when the player is in a pocket. As I don't like the messy wires I preordered the Griffin RF remote a month ago for $40 (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/airclick) but it's still not...- Clemit

Mobile Bliss : My New Portable Rig (pics)
Looks great, and the size of the mini matches the portaphile so well! One question, though: does the SiK line-out improve sound quality (vs. using the audio jack)? It prohibits using a remote, doesn't it (I'm still waiting for my preordered Griffin wireless remote)? Thanks!- Clemit
