What Senns compare to SR60s?
To bring them closer to your ears just bend the headband, it is metal under the vinyl (don't crease it though, so apply equal pressure to both sides). To reduce shrillness let them play for awhile. The others mentioned "burn in" this is a fancy "audiophile" term that means let the drivers loosen...- iPodphile

Minnesota summer (mini-)meet?
Sorry guys I really screwed this one up. I have gotten so busy at work that I haven't been to head fi in a long time. Thanks Mr Radar for the email, otherwise I would not have realized what I have done. So, obviously today would have worked, and I just missed it. Is there another date...- iPodphile

RS1 or HD650?
I say the RS1s only because you say rock. When I think rock I think RS1 (Grado) when I hear classical I think Senn 650. IMHO you should go with the RS1s. I think you will be happier. I think the Senns will be too veiled and laid back for what you want to listen to. If you are listening to...- iPodphile

HD 555 => Amp suggestion for PC?
I listen to my Wintel laptop with my Senn HD555 out of a Total Airhead fed by an Creative Audigy 2 PCMCIA A better solution sonically would be the Total Bithead. How can you argue with the simplicity and wonderful sound that results? It's portable too! Jon- iPodphile

Pricing for HeadRoom Max and Home is up!
Is it possible to get a balanced pair of Grado RS1s? For use with my new HeadRoom Max Balanced with Max DAC from Naim CDX2 and Cardas Golden Reference Digital Coax.* *Maybe I should sell my car and all my other "toys" and just take the bus to work and school and come home and relax with...- iPodphile

PCMIA Soundcard
I am looking for a PCMIA soundcard so I can use my laptop as a source again. I broke the headphone jack. I am looking, as most of us are, for the most bang for the buck. This will not be used very often, just once in awhile. I am willing to spend around $100. I have only looked at the...- iPodphile

found this pic on deviantart...what headphones is the chick wearing?
You know you are a truly obsessed headphone geek (sorry Tyll) when you are looking more at the cans* than the girl. But yeah, no idea what they are, on a side note, anyone know where I could find a similar style pic but with Grados? *sorry, bad pun- iPodphile

Recommend me the best portable cd player available today.
I think this is exactly what I have been looking for. Recently I have found myself listening to more music through my 4 year old Sony D-F200 than through my iPod. I am almost sure it sounds better than the iPod. Can anybody confirm that the D NE10 sounds better than the D-F200 and the iPod? That...- iPodphile

Replacing speakers with headphones for college.
I wholeheartedly agree with the replies so far. From experience in the dorm room I will say that I (and my roomate) would have been much happier with the Shure e4(c) than I was with the Grado SR60. Although I love the SR60 and still listen to them a great deal, if I only had one set of...- iPodphile

Super Noob Question about amps.
An amp, well a good amp, will improve dynamics (the difference between loud and soft), definition, and add a weight or fullness to the music. For your cans try an Airhead or Total Airhead from HeadRoom. They have a 30 day return policy so if you don't like what you hear send it back. Welcome...- iPodphile

A few questions on the headroom micro amp
I assume the option is for what part of the world you live in 110 for US and 220 for Europe, I think For your situation the desktop module would be better, it sounds better but sucks up batteries- iPodphile

Headphone Amps Reviewed in TAS
In the August/September issue # 155 of The Absolute Sound Robert Harley reviews the Simpl A1, The HeadRoom Total Bithead, Meier-Audio Porta Corda, and the Grado RA-1. Great to see some more publicity for our hobby! He also states that next issue there will be a survey of headphones. For...- iPodphile

Those who know Grado
Well, it wouldn't be quite as big a deal if I were going. But as I said my buddy is going to be there and has little to no intrest in headphones, his only experience with the Grados is something like "Hey, Jon we can hear what you are listening to, you mind turning that down?" He would be doing...- iPodphile

Those who know Grado
That would be great if he answered. Or would it? Mister Grado (by the way this is a good place to ask, is it pronounced Grado with a long a as in Gray or Grado with a short a as in Grotto?) I would like to send someone over to have you sign the box that my headphones came in. Would you be around...- iPodphile

BOSE Ear Buds
