    Music to die to …

Sorry for your loss. Dream Theater - Fatal Tragedy "Remember that death is not the end but only a transition" is one of the most comforting lines I can think of, a dying person can hear. Of course, The Spirit Carries On and Afterlife are two other fine choices too.

Party for One: Share your love for bad music with the world

Haha, sounds like fun indeed. I myself have been wanting to do that with some extreme metal like Necrophahist, Opeth or Psycroptic... but unfortunately I'm afraid that some wacky old hag will call the cops, or that the many little children roaming under my window will get traumas or...

Songs that have huge emotional inspiration behind them

Yeah, and if you're going to name some songs, then also do tell what is the inspiration behind them. :P

Songs that have huge emotional inspiration behind them

Since songs like these often are masterpieces, I'd love to learn of more of these. I can currently think of only two songs: Green Carnation - Light of Day, Day of Darkness (Birth of the composers son, and death of his daugher) Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven (Death of his son)

    Any good anime soundtracks?

Hellsing has very cool jazz/rock stuff. Final Fantasy Advent Children (though not really anime) has a good soundtrack too.

    Anyone heard of Buckethead?

You forgot his best album - Population Override. That is just an amazing piece of art. It's basically a concept album and the story is pretty self-explanatory after you look at each of the song names. I'd have to say that even though I'm a big fan of the likes of Vai, Petrucci, Satch, Eric...

Looking for a specific type of Metal:

I already forgot if you like Opeth, but if you do then try Dark Suns. Oh yeah, and try out Into Eternity, it has some scream/growls, but also clean vocals. Check out their Point of Uncertainty song.

Looking for a specific type of Metal:

So, no growls... and by no Dream Theater type, did you mean the vocals or the whole sound of the band? Anyway, at least Porcupine Tree, Devin Townsend Band and Riverside are definitely worth checking out.

    Favorite Metal Drummer

I also dislike seeing something like Slipknot named along with some greats like, I don't know, Opeth. But metal evolves. If it didn't, and if we would follow the purists opinions, then ultimately, only Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and the bands with similar sound to them would be considered...

    Greatest guitar songs!

Since there's a boom of greatest metal and rock bands threads, I decided to make one that currently interests me more; A thread of the greatest guitarists! So, post the greatest guitar songs that you know of. I'll start: (In random order) Yngwie Malmsteen - Black Star Buckethead - Earth...

    Devin Townsend band: SYNCHESTRA

I love Synchestra. I don't want to rank it yet, but it surely is a contester for the first place. Current first place holder is Terria of course. Triumph, right after that weird country (?) guitar solo, was a pure eargasm for me. Same goes for Babysong, when it starts to switch between the...

Decided to give Opeth a try... and...

I do think that Opeth should use clean vocals more often. Like in Ayreon - Day Twelve: Trauma, Ackerfeldt is just perfect.

Why do I dislike Pink FLoyd?

Dark Side Of The Moon was also the album that made me like Pink Floyd. To be more precise, the track Time rocked my world. So, if you don't like Floyd yet, try that song. It's in my opinion quite uhh, normal song, nothing really weird about it.
