I concur with RRod. I don't think you'll find bass missing from the HD800.

The speakers in your system are meant for large distribution systems, where long cable runs will not introduce losses. The 100V and 70V on the speakers are looking for a constant voltage from the amplifier. To have a constant voltage from the amplifier one needs a transformer attached to the...

I understand this digital headphone amp is made to pair with HD-800 phones, of which I have a pair.

Take a look at the Schiit Modi and Magni combo ($200 total) - great sound, good price, USA made.

The EL84 is a pentode tube and the 6080 is a triode. I don't think one can generalize about the sound quality as it will depend on the circuit configuration.

I have not heard one, but like that the owners manual is available for download and includes the schematic.
