The etys would surely isolate the best, but if you're like me, you have people coming in, or phones to answer a couple times per hour, and don't want to fool with the right fit 16 times a day! The HD 280s are pretty large, and they look "utilitarian", but who cares, they block out LOTS of sound...

Sony MDR-D66 eggos are circumaural, but barely, and still very small. They're closed enough that they don't leak much sound at all, but you can still easily hear phones ring, co-workers, etc. I don't think they sound as good as KSC-35s, but they don't leak, and I really dig the 35s.

john_jcb - too damn funny! I third the D66s, if you're concerned about looks, but what do I know, I wore HD280s at all day at work!

Magicthyse, have you thought about D66 eggos? I think the midbass is more prominent than in the 280s, but still may be a little lower than what you're looking for, but they're worth auditioning. They're really compact, easily driven, and they look pretty sleek.

Afroide, if you want a closed portable hp, check out the Sony D66 eggos. The bass may not be as prominent as you'd like, but they're small, detailed, and they're designed pretty well. The KSC-35s sound better at 1/4 of the price, but they're open and I personally have some tangling problems with...

I don't have the 770s, but wouldn't they need an amp? Also, I think they're larger and heavier than the 280s. The DT250-80s seem to be up your alley though - more bass and less treble than the 280s, powered by a portable, and from the pictures, they look better.
