Monoprice Monolith Liquid Platinum - By Alex Cavalli
I have a full stack (LP DAC, LP, LauX). The best part is that they stack, which helps significantly with space vs my previous DACs. It does nothing wrong, and I do enjoy it. Go for it if you don't mind paying a slight premium for stacking and want a good delta sigma DAC.- dweekie

Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)
I think one of the reviews talks about the effects of sealing all possible points of air vents (top vent, bottom cable exit, and all around the split. https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/sony-mh755.23501/reviews I filled in the cavity with blu tack (weighed amount on a scale to even up both ears)...- dweekie

Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)
I received a few variations recently. My MH750 AG-501 with black mesh sounds very, very similar to my MH755s, while my AG-500 with white center on mesh sounds different with way more bass and slightly grainy sound. I popped them all open to verify authenticity; the 500's are a mixture of the...- dweekie

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!
Do you have any particular issues with UAC-2 drivers built into current operating systems? That is pretty much the future for all basic USB dacs moving forward. If you haven't upgraded to Windows 10 over the past 4 years, then that's another issue. Also, driver updates lie more with XMOS in...- dweekie

I think differences are exaggerated because the comparisons exist within a similar product line. We sort of see the same thing with the wood cups of Fostex or Emu cans, or various generations of the Audeze LCD line. I guess it's implied that comparisons live within the bubble of the product line...- dweekie

New RME
A little more detail on this page. I wonder how much it borrows from the older siblings. http://www.rme-audio.de/en/products/adi_2_fs.php "The ADI-2 FS also uses the conversion technology of the ADI-2 Pro: the AK557x family and the AK4490 not only offer 192 kHz sampling frequency and lowest...- dweekie

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!
I ended up on this Anker USB 2.0 cable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G114FZ7/) to replace the fiddly stock cable. It's far thinner and more flexible (likely due to having less wires inside) than 3.1 cables. It keeps a solid connection and looks aesthetically like more expensive audio cables. I...- dweekie

I tried out this $2 mixer knob. It's a little ugly, but it feels fantastic (as mixer knobs should). The volume indicator is immediately visible in the dark. Any 6mm to 6.5mm D shaft knobs should work. The model I used is the "fatty knob" Chroma Cap...- dweekie

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!
Too little information. Tried new cable? Stock cable seems to give some people problems with disconnects. Mine disconnect very easily. I'm unsure of what interference you are referring to. Is it in a metal case? USB3 ports can create issues with wireless signals. You can try a 2.0 port if you...- dweekie

I swapped the onboard caps from the standard aluminum Panasonic SV to the polymer Os-Con SVPF caps because... why not? Listening impressions later, but so far it's brighter, more detailed, and more aggressive. It's definitely more fatiguing, so I'm hoping for something to change. At least it was...- dweekie

Takstar HF 580 Planar Headphones
I ordered the new Aiva pads on the 15th, it arrived on the 17th. I don't have the Takstar yet, so I can't give any impressions on this particular headphone except that the new angled pad is thinner and slightly firmer than the Brainwavz Angled pads.
