Well, that may be, but in any case it's obvious they listened to him since they name drop him in their music. Oh and with regards to the post at the top about seeing them live, they put on a very powerful, energetic, and fun show.

c'mon, anyone who can sing a whole song from the point of view of a dime deserves something agreed btw i own several of their albums...all of them, maybe dido - if you only listen to their radio stuff you're missing out

You definately won't be getting excessive bass with the er-6i's. They sound amazing and I would fully suggest them (very clear, poppish (not as in pop music) sound), but if your going to be active with these earphones the microphonics could get annoying. You could put the cable under you shirt...

Keep listening! I hated the album at first as well, and then one cycle through the album something clicked and I felt that heavenly Cake vibe again. I had thought, "wow lyrically they've really jumped off a cliff, they used to be so much more intellectually compelling . . . then I thought about...

I don't think you'd be posting on this site if that were the case . Maybe it's some weird qwerk of my iPod, but that is my volume level for comfortable listening.

All those sound like good choices. I have the er-6i's and if you can find a deal in your price range (not too hard hopefully) I fully recommend them. Bass might be a little weak for some unamped, but it's there. Another suggestion might be the Sharp HP MD33S's for 39.99 + shipping at AudioCubes...

I just got my er6i's and am playing them on 3rd Gen. iPod. I agree with comments about shallow bass (it is there, but nothing to write home about), everything else is sounding very crisp and poppish. My volume is way down (like 20% or less)too with no problems hearing. Find a deal and go for them!
