[RESOLVED] CD ripping to lossless settings
Thank you. That was my instinct, because there is no gain from using lossless (no matter how great your sample rate is), only a lack of loss (obviously). Question resolved, I hope that this thread will help others.- Luminerius

[RESOLVED] CD ripping to lossless settings
Hey All, I am a little bit confused about the maximum quality that I can/should rip a CD. Most CDs (if not all) are 44.1kHz/16bit right? Does that mean that I will get no change in quality if I rip to 96/24 (or somewhere in between). I don't even know if that is possible, but so far I have been...- Luminerius

Shure SRH840 or Sennheiser HD 518 or something else? Complete beginner speaking...
Quote: I was thinking of the e7. Is that an amp that will last me a while or should I invest in something nicer. I will be paying less than $150 for the headphones, so I don't know how much I should be spending on an amp, but I would like quality sound out of both my computer (I only...- Luminerius

Shure SRH840 or Sennheiser HD 518 or something else? Complete beginner speaking...
I am thinking that I will buy the headphones first, through an online retailer (about 70 bucks cheaper) and then I'll take them in to a headphone store to see if I have an acute enough ear for an amp to be worth the investment. If I don't get an amp&LOD, should I still get an external soundcard...- Luminerius

To DAC or not to DAC, that is the question...
INTRO: Hey Everybody, I am planning to buy my first set of High Quality audio equipment and so far I have decided to purchase the following: full-size headphones (Shure SRH840 or Sennheiser HD 518, most likely, but really it could be any pair in the "just over $100" price-range), a portable amp...- Luminerius

Hey Everyone, I am looking to buy my first pair of "High Quality" headphones, and I am looking in the "just over $100" range. I just finished ripping a bunch of classical CDs in ALAC format, so that is what I'll mainly be listening to (if that matters). I am going to purchase Fiio's L9 LOD for...- Luminerius
