i am returning the 990 600 ohms right now and im prolly getting the 770 pros 250 ohms since their 80 ohm version is not sold through amazon itself, amazon reccomends the fiio e5 amp and the fiio l3 line out dock for ipod for the 770, do you think the e5 is good or should i go with the e7? and...- nick43292

Quote: how do they sound without an amp? i really do like the 770 pros i am either with the 770 pros or the audio technica m50s, or am considering other headphones too, but i might just go for the 770 pros and get an amp since it would be cheaper then the 990s themselves- nick43292

i did some research and found out that 10 db is perceived as 2x louder so if your listening to 70 db, 80 db seems to be 2x louder- nick43292

im just trying to decide if it would be better for me to take the m50s without an amp or the 770s with the e7 i am not sure what would best suit my needs, but i do like the beyers quality, also if i do get the 770 pros it would prolly be the 250 ohm version would the e7 be efficient for that...- nick43292

whats the difference between the e7 and e9 amps? and which 770s the 770s pros with 80 ohms are only 150 saves me 150$ or the 770 pro 250 ohm for 100$ only of saving, for some reason the regular 770 32 ohm version is 250 What and saves me only 50$?- nick43292

i am going to return these 990 600 ohms but im not sure if the 770 pro 80 ohm version will solve my problem, im still considering the audio technicas m50s too, if i do go for the 770 pros i will save 100$ from the 990s and then will purchase an amp with that- nick43292

it is said that listening to over 88 db for a few hours damages your hearing over time, i think 110 is the threshold of pain and anything over 95 db for more then 1 hour will cause damage- nick43292

well a jet flying over your head is 100 db and 97 db is a newspaper press which is pretty loud, they compare 90 db to a motorcycle at 25 feet which seems odd to compare to http://www.rcaanews.org/noiselev.htm- nick43292

Quote: mike said the 770 32 ohms would be 2-3 times as loud as the 990 600 ohms on ipod/iphone, would that be decent to say? cause if so thats plenty loud enough for me right now without an amp the 990 600 ohms are around a regular conversation in loudness- nick43292

now that i love the quality beyerdynamic makes, i am wondering if the dt 770 32 ohm would be perfect for me? would it give nearly the same quality as the 32 ohm version of the 990's? the 770s are closed which i prefer since i dont want other people to be able to hear what i am- nick43292

yes it is louder then my other sources, as i mentioned before i do notice improved sound quality over previous headphones i have had before, i do not consider myself very audiophiliac in nature, i am just trying to find decent sound while watching tv and movies as well as listening to music online- nick43292
