Best listening experience: iPod + AMP or new DAP?
I don't quite understand what your goals are with your upgrade. You can improve both soundstage and volume with just hp change out. There is no need for amp or dac. Why pay extra for high resolution files with a portable rig that it will hard to discern the improvement in sound quality. I...- 20fenix08

Help: First decent headphones Samson SR850 or California Silverado - or something else?
I hope that you decided on the Samson SR850. I've owned the SR 850 for over 3 years and use on a regular basis. The 850 is my go-to traveling cans. The Samson is tougher than it looks. I own the California Laredo. Sound quality and soundstage of the SR850 far surpasses the Laredo. All the...- 20fenix08

Help! Trying to find headphones to buy!
You can skip the amp for a while with the HIFIMAN products. They are efficiently designed to be powered by even most DAP's. You will sacrifice volume and fullness of sound.- 20fenix08

Help! Trying to find headphones to buy!
Hurry and purchase HIFIMAN HE-300/HE-400 while still in supply. 300 can be found for around $200 and the 400 for $300. HE-300 with Schiit Magni should meet your total budget. I would skip the amp for now and get the HE-400.- 20fenix08

Disappointing review. You posted the same review in 3 different threads. You failed to research the HIFIMAN offerings and misstated facts concerning the HE400i "updates". Thankfully, you have completed your obligated review from the 400i world tour; leave the reviewing to others.- 20fenix08

I also like using recorders for DAPs. My Tascam DR-07mkII is a great digital audio player. It is easy to transfer files via USB. It has a great D/A converter, rechargeable batteries last a long time; what's not to like.- 20fenix08

Recommendations for exciting open back headphones on a budget
I suggest the AT-AD900X. 900X are almost analytical with their flat frequency response, lightweight, and extremely comfortable. Price is under your budget. Would make a good introduction to open-air phones. The Fostex T-50 "Rocky" recommends are un-modded MadDogs.- 20fenix08

Best headphone around 70 to 100$?
Consider the Fischer Audio FA-004. A great all around hp that has a mostly flat frequency curve with a slight upper register roll-off. These are comfortable headphones that come with a full compliment of accessories. The perforated earpads stay cool for extended listening sessions.Sound leakage...- 20fenix08

Good over-ear headphones around $50?
Look into the Superlux 681 or 668. You can find reviews here and they are cheap on amazon. I suggest the Takstar 2050. A more balanced sound and cheap on amazon. The semi-open design will leak sound into your surrounding but will give you good direction presence while gaming. The Superlux or...- 20fenix08

I noticed that too. I've been watching the HifiMan site for the launch of the within-my-budget HE-400i. I wonder if hfm is having manufacturing trouble?- 20fenix08

Introducing myself--and request for suggestions (for on- or over-ear general use $100-$200; more in post)
davidsh & Aviadawg have provided you with the most appropriate pair of cans for your use...sennheiser momentum. Save a little longer and go over your $200 budget by $40 and be very pleased. They sound quality is there but the most important thing is the fact that they are iPhone friendly. The...- 20fenix08

nikhil007, I am not sure how you arrived at the list of those four models for selection. I assume that you are new to head-fi arena and will give you my personal...- 20fenix08
