New M8 DAC from SMSL (9018/XMOS)

I agree with DJBobby.  I have the tubemagic D2 and the SMSL M8.  The M8 supports DSD and 24/384 as well as async usb which is on paper better then the tubemagic DAC's.  As far as sound, the tubemagic is already at a pretty good level so I would say that the M8 is better, but you are really...

Maverick Audio TubeMagic D2 (Dedicated DAC) - Review, FAQ & Info Thread

I have not measured with a sound meter, but the two outputs sound very similar in sound volume to me.  I have both running into my preamp and I can A/B switch them quickly.

Maverick Audio TubeMagic D2 (Dedicated DAC) - Review, FAQ & Info Thread

See page 15 of the Analog ADA4627 data sheet.  "Each supply should be bypassed with a 0.01μF ceramic capacitor..."   I believe that I used the following bypass cap in my setup:   http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/SR215C103JAR/478-5739-ND/2136299   My ADA4627-1 are the -1BRZ...

Maverick Audio TubeMagic D2 (Dedicated DAC) - Review, FAQ & Info Thread

I am really enjoying my Maverick Audio Tubemagic D2 DAC and thought I would take the time to post my impressions.   I elected to purchase a "open box" D2 DAC with the upgraded GE5670W tubes which was $20 off of the list price.   The unit was shipped to me from a Florida address instead of...

Maverick Audio TubeMagic D2 (Dedicated DAC) - Review, FAQ & Info Thread

I am a new owner of a tubemagic d2.  I have several opamp's on hand to try out both FET and Bipolar technologies.  What is the voltage supplied on the pin 4 and 8 of the D2 opamp sockets?  Several of my opamps with lower voltage specs run +/- 15 (AD4627-1) and some are +/-13VDC (AD8620).

Firestone BRAVO 24/96 USB transport w/o drivers + reclocker?

I had sent an email to firestone tech support on their guidance on the supplier with the Bravo.  They indicated that the supplier would not be a noticeable upgrade for the bravo.   What are your thoughts and experiences on upgrading the bravo with the supplier.   LP, the partsexpress...

Firestone BRAVO 24/96 USB transport w/o drivers + reclocker?

Quote: I already had the partsexpress powersupply in my shop.  It is a useful unit since you can select various DC voltages for powering all kinds of things.  So no extra cost for me.   But anyway, let me take this opportunity to thank you leeperry for your review of the Bravo. ...

Firestone BRAVO 24/96 USB transport w/o drivers + reclocker?

Quote: Yes, but at least you get a separate ground from the PC.  Also, I don't know the ripple specs of the partsexpress PSU since they are not published by partsexpress.  But it is a linear regulated PS.  At any rate, at least for my setup, the extra PSU did not provide a noticeable...

Firestone BRAVO 24/96 USB transport w/o drivers + reclocker?

Although it did not appear to help much for my setup.  I am posting this info as a possible aid to others wishing to try upgraded power with thier OLIMEX USB isolator dongle.   I used a Partsexpress Regulated Linear Power supply (3-12v DC selectable).  ...

Firestone BRAVO 24/96 USB transport w/o drivers + reclocker?

Just a quick update on my experiments with the Bravo.  I have tried a few different configurations as follows:   1.  HTPC Windows 7/ Jriver MC16/ WASAPI / USB Wireworld Ultraviolet / Bravo / Belden 1695 coax to AV Receiver 2.  HTPC Windows 7/ Jriver MC16/ WASAPI / USB Wireworld Ultraviolet...

Firestone BRAVO 24/96 USB transport w/o drivers + reclocker?

The lifatec toslink is actually 470 strands, which given their smaller cores each cuts down on path delay variations of the light going thru the fiber vs standard single core toslink cables.  If that even matters.  The lifatec toslink has very sturdy connectors that fit VERY snugly into the...

Firestone BRAVO 24/96 USB transport w/o drivers + reclocker?

Thank you for your suggestions.   I could of sworn in one of the posts I saw that the Tenor chip did take power from the USB line.  When the USB power line was cut, the Bravo did not operate.  So that makes me think that at least to some extent the power on the USB incoming line is a factor...

Ok so I am new here.  But based on a google search that landed me here.  I have joined the bravo party.   I have the Bravo now hooked up to my HTPC and loving the sound.  I am driving the Bravo with the stock included wallwart.  Based on recommendations in this thread I also have a Wireworld...
