Tone Control Neutralization Eliminates Chance to Control Bass Heavy Denon 5000. Solution?
Lived fine without tone controls until bought pair Denon 5000. Bass is wild and destructive, but Rotel pre-amp tone controls by passed when plug desktop HP amp into tape out per usual HP amp/Amp set up. Also no tone control using HP jack on Rotel, but cheaper Onkyo tone controls remained in play...- Darwin258

Okay to plug HP am directly into component (non portable) full fledged CD player like a Rotel? Is this better than going through amp?
Why isn't better to connect my HP amps directly into full CD component player rather than plugging the HP amp into the receiver? Bypasses receiver or amp and gives cleaner signal I would think if can bypass going through another unit. True or not? thanks for any help- Darwin258

Tone Controls Bypassed by Using Tape Out on amplifier
My Channel Islands Audio desktop HP amp is plugged into the Tape Out on my Rotel control amp (as Rotel calls it), but this means I cannot use the tone controls and I need to badly since have Denon 5000 set which needs to be tamed when it comes to bass. How can I set up connections using...- Darwin258

Please help with this basic issue: Reason why manufacturers of HP amps recommend line out or level line out instead of headphone jack
Peete Total thanks. Understand what you said rather well for a non-techie. Off to follow your suggestions--but you sure are correct about the PITA component regarding access to lossless. And the cost! Regards, Art- Darwin258

Please help with this basic issue: Reason why manufacturers of HP amps recommend line out or level line out instead of headphone jack
Peete Cannot thank you enough for your explanation. Your explanation is sheer poetry. And while it was over my head I found re-reading it that it began to penetrate. Best of all, you gave me the bottom line on why should by pass the HP jack. I will, however, miss the extra gain in using HP...- Darwin258

Please help with this basic issue: Reason why manufacturers of HP amps recommend line out or level line out instead of headphone jack
I keep running across HP amp manufacturers who say whether it is a Sony Walkman Cd player or a full fledged receiver that it is better to use the line level out than the headphone jack in connecting to the HP amp. When my HP amp is plugged into HP jack there is the major advantage of gain from...- Darwin258

The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
Gentlemen: I profusely apologize if I have missed the point I am interested in re Beyer 880/600 but have the Beyer 880/32 because I was concerned with power/driving issues and so was too chicken to get the 600ohm. What differences exist in sound between the 600 and 32 versions? ...- Darwin258

I have my first pair of 701. In this case Q701 (what does the K mean in front the number...anything?). The Q is just a minor branch or version of the main phone. Denon AH-D7000
I found the HeadRooom can be wiggy on the Denons. Same experience as other postings indicate here--a pattern of less than total consistency. Always a pleasure to get their opinion on a can on assumption they might be more perceptive than us civilians much as that assumption has more holes in it...- Darwin258

Denon AD-D1100 vs Grado SR125I
I would not hesitate to vote for the Grados. Your ears are in the right place with Grado, though you are not in good hands with Allstate, I just read. I but there are many who would say the Grado 60 would be good enough given the price area you are in, though best way to make better would be to...- Darwin258

Hearing new details in new headphones is a myth
Try "number" of comments. "Amount" is used to measure volume--like air and water, gases. Then again few of us are capable of making the distinction any more--remember when there was such useful and classy distinction between "uninterested" and "disinterested" and then we gave one and all...- Darwin258

Reply to review by 'darwin258' on item 'Shure SE215'
Excellent review in hitting all the relevant categories and in being candid about the weaknesses which makes your review most credible unlike times when a reviewer says the thing is the greatest. I think the small sound stage would kill the IEM option for me. I love my Sony street cans: MDR...- Darwin258
