Papa Rusa Tube Headphone Amplifier
Echoing all the other comments here, this is a beautiful build, congrats. I have been looking to build a parafeed HP amp based off of 5842 tube for a while, and more recently acquired some 6C45PI tubes so may build this one instead. I purchased a pair of Sowter 8665 transformers for the...- itsikhefez

Elekit 300B Amp kit
I'm definitely not an expert but does a 12AU7 have enough drive capability for a 300B? I know atleast with the TU-8600S that it had 2 stages of gain. That said, it was also possible to use the 12BH7A with the Neurochrome DG300B so perhaps its fine.- itsikhefez

Elekit 300B Amp kit
Hi Jamie... after building both the Mainline and the TU-8600 (I don't own either anymore though), I would recommend the Elekit. I think at their prices it is a much better value. The Kaiju has what seem like rather small EI transformers, which the Lundahl are likely of much higher quality. You...- itsikhefez

I built a few of these amps and offering them here at basically cost. Not looking to profit off of these, purpose of building these was to experiment with different power supply and transformer configurations. They are all the same circuit (RH84, which is fairly known as sounding great) and have...- itsikhefez

ZMF Pendant by Ampsandsound; impressions, tube-rolling, and general discussions
@KPzypher good for you! It would be a shame though that you would limit such an amp to a single pair of headphones. I don't have the Pendant and have not heard one, but given that it is made by a reputable designer and specifically for headphones, I have to assume that unless its faulty it...- itsikhefez

ZMF Pendant by Ampsandsound; impressions, tube-rolling, and general discussions
I'm selling off some of my EL84 stash, all NOS and attractive prices (IMHO) If you were looking to try tube rolling in your Pendant, this may be a good opportunity. (hoping this does not violate forum rules) Post is here...- itsikhefez

Seattle Head-Fi meet Saturday January 25th - ORIGINAL for this date
I am looking forward to it! I have heard alot of gear and lately built some more but in the end I find that my ears simply are not that refined to hear the nuances and subtleties. I'm most excited for folks to spend some time with the amps and DAC I built and let me know their honest opinion...- itsikhefez

Awesome gear @carlman14. It will be great to compare impressions of the Mogwai to my DIY tube amp. I'll bring a ZMF Aeolus and Hifiman HE5SE..... I've never heard the Atticus or Auteur but either would be really cool to compare to the Aeolus- itsikhefez

Which mod do you have on your HD650? I only did a basic coin mod and have been thinking about the KISS mod but have not gotten around to it. I actually enjoy the 45 SET the most with the HD650... it may be worth bringing your pair so that you have a familiar baseline.- itsikhefez

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
A cost efficient option for a high quality cable is to build your own. These are 2 I built for the Aeolus. One with Switchcraft mini-XLR and Neutrik 1/4", the other with Furutech mini-XLR and Neutrik 4-pin XLR. Canare cable for both.... cost about $30 in parts, a bit more if using Furutech...- itsikhefez
