Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Jason's reasons as I remember are cost, and sensitivity to DC current on the AC line not to mentioned that some toriods are prone to hum although any transformer is prone to hum if not made well. Personally I prefer the toroids in the amps I build but most of those are for friends or familly...

Just the basics, Generally the most expensive part of a power amp is the power supply, the large transformers and filter capacitors are the most expensive parts of the amp. The trend has been to use switching power supplies to power the amplifier. Saves money and removes most of the weight...

No. There should be no affect on tube life. It operates in class A and the amount of power doesn't change. Hope this answers your question. Stled

Jason, you know this but many here my not. Just wanted to add, volume controls or potentiometers generally sound better as they get closer to the high end of their range and the signal has less of the resister track to flow through. "A potentiometer is a three-terminal resistor with a sliding...

You do not want an armadillo in Indiana! They have invaded southern Missouri and are indeed a menace. When cycling the trails and roads you have to watch out for them. They will waddle right out on the trail and over the bars you go if you happen to hit one. :)) stled

The drill bits are hollow round tubes that have diamond dust embedded in the cutting end. They are hollow so you can run water through them and keep them cool as well as washing away the glass dust. Used them a lot drilling holes in glass turntable mats that we made back in the 80"s stled

I'll have to grab a camera for it my old Rugby cell phone doesn't do very good pics. Also have to remove the moving blankets from the TV other wise they are in the picture. A couple of large moving blankets really help the sound stage and aren't expensive. Since my wife doesn't use this...

I have the Maxell tagged version hanging over the Plasma Tv in the main audio and video room. It hangs at about a 20 degree tilt to the left . My wife has the original print in the living room. It of course hangs as a picture should. Still have the tape deck and a half case of tapes, every so...

Thanks for the tune, been a long time since I heard that. I believe the last time was a family reunion about 25 yrs ago. Our tomatoes have been poor the last couple of years here in the St. Louis, Mo. area, to hot to early or like this year late frost delayed setting them out until a couple of...

Wink, I think I have to agree with you, E. E. Doc Smith produced some incredible Sci Fi. I read them in my 20's again in my early 50's and plan on doing so again. Although now in my 70's they will have to wait for me to finish the new amps i'm working on. Not enough time for both at the...

I have to agree, very similar experience here. My take is that the output filter can't cover the large impedance and phase changes that occur in most speaker systems. They give you values to use as the filter for different impedance loads. Ed
