The M50 is in the midst of  price hike right now, but even for ~$150, I'd still say they are an excellent product for the price!

Actually, tom lee has them cheaper, $139 +tax   http://www.tomleemusic.ca/main/recording.cfm?details=1&id=161&inv=125049   but atm the M50s have undergone a price hike on the usual US stores, and probably won't come back down till the holidays. I ordered mine from the sound professionals...

Hmm for $30 I'd consider picking up a pair of unsanctioned beats, since that is closer to what they are worth before markup. Got a link?

I'm just going to say it: Audio Technica ATH-M50. They may be "over-recommended", but they are so for good reason; the performance for the price is an excellent value, and they have good isolation - they won't disturb people around you.   That said, you should go with what sounds best to you...

Same reason people purchase and put up with integrated graphics. It comes included and it allows them to be entertained with farmville or whatever cereal box game they want. Now if you are going in as a gamer and know how awesome high-end graphics are, you definitely won't be settling for budget...

Thank you Markizan! From what it sounds like, I think I'll be going for the M50 as well. I don't love bass all that much, and the price for the PRO700MK2 comes out to a bit too much here in Canada ($220 after shipping and tax, $145 for the M50). The removable cable and choice of included coiled...

I too am eager to hear some opinions of these headphones especially how they relate to the M50's. I heard the PRO700 also had build quality issues, so I am wondering how these hold up
