Ok thanks. I'm waiting for a Schiit Magni to come in...so I'm thinking it will be best to try and do 'line-out' in "2-speaker" mode to the magni until I have the ability to upgrade to a modi or something similar.

I also seem to be getting this issue. I will update if I can find a fix, like nole...my question is though:   Does anyone know the difference between the "2 Speakers" setting and "Headphone"? I see that the various "Headphone" settings apply different gains, is the "2 Speakers" just somewhere...

Any quick thoughts on these?  The Turtle Beach Micro II is in the ~30 price range, however the X-Fi USB Sound Card is on sale for $48 through their site.  This has more features which may be the higher price point, though I hope it also may be a little better of a device.  Anyone have any thoughts?

Hmm ok, that's interesting.  I guess you could just not use the barrel, and add some glue/epoxy and then techflex and heatshrink over it and it would be secure enough, would cut down on the weight slightly as well.

At that price you your only great options for bass heavy headphones (if thats what you want) for rap etc is probably the Sony XB500/700 series.  I think the 700 series has slightly better sound quality.

Thanks!  One question though, how do the neutrik mini handles connect to the plug?  Most bodies I have seen screw on to the plug, and it looks like there is no threads below the flat guard plate at the bottom of the plug.

Why do you want the cable protector?  For strain relief?  I use non-conducting epoxy around my Techflex and on the body of the connector, and then heatshrink over it.  Seems to work pretty well.

Hey all,   I'm looking to replace the detachable cable for my friends Ultrasone DJ1 Pro.   I had a cable lying around I made that I gave to him, using standard gold radioshack connectors...all I had at the time.  However, the bodies of the plugs were too wide to fit in to the his cans...
