++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
I just ordered the Schiit Magni/Modi combo and I'm planning on dropping some more cash on a nice set of headphones to go with them. My current set up is on-board PC audio to a pair of SRH 840s. My understanding is that the 840s don't scale particularly well with and amp and I've wanted a nice...- monterto

Just got a Cowan J3...need a bit of help
Depending on where you are getting your music from you can have a lot of troubles with tags, just make sure everything is tagged properly. If you are having trouble with album art it might be a good idea to archive everything properly inside the music folder. I personally embed all my album art...- monterto

Audio Quality
If you listen to dubstep then you can just torrent the music. There are tons of good vinyl rips floating around. also most dubstep labels release a web version of their music in addition to the vinyl so this should be a non-issue.- monterto

Monster turbine pro GOLD for $158. good deal or wait??
That's cheaper than the original turbines retail for! I don't know anything about J&R so I don't know if they are a reputable dealer, could be fakes. Is it online? can you post a link to it?- monterto

Asus Xonar Essence One DAC/AMP. Impressions?
http://www.asus.com/Multimedia/Audio_Cards/Xonar_Essence_One/ Has anyone had the opportunity to take a look at or audition this bit of hardware? I don't know too much about ASUS as far as sound quality goes, but if nothing else the DAC/AMP is pretty as all hell. Post your thoughts!- monterto

My first Cowon is the i10 and I love it.
Important question: Does the volume rocker become fwd/prev when the device is on hold? the only reason I'm hesitating about grabbing this immediately is because of the lack of tactile buttons, I don't want to pull the device out of my pocket when i want to skip a song. I look forward to...- monterto

Monster Miles Davis Tribute thread
Quote: It pops out a bit, the same way my authentic turbines do. I also gave a little bite on the gold plate on the back of the IEM because supposedly they sue real gold. It bent when I bit it so I believe it's real gold rather than plastic. I'm probably making a fuss for no reason....- monterto

Monster Miles Davis Tribute thread
So, I'm starting to wonder if my tribute IEMS are authentic... Does anyone have any info on how to spot a fake? They sound pretty good, but I know there are tons of fakes floating around so I'd love some peace of mind- monterto

My Thoughts Of the New Sony Walkman A865
Thanks for the impressions Zaroff! It gives a good sense of the player. Coming from an NWZ-A808 this sounds fantastic. Right now the only thing holding me back is the capacity and the price of the player in Canada. Does the player support on-the-go playlists like some of the other...- monterto

Monster Miles Davis Tribute thread
Just got my Miles Davis Tribute IEMs in the mail. I eagerly opened them and these are my initial impressions: the accesories are nice, with a wide selection of foam/gel/flanged/mushroom eartips and 3 cases. The cable seems of not-so-good quality and feels cheap compared to my older turbines...- monterto

Monster Turbines
I have a set of turbines and I used them with a walkman (with LOD) and a headroom bithead. I notice a slight improvement, probably not worth the cost of the amp though.- monterto

Analyze a songs frequency waveform
Usually what you see in audio programs is how loud the track is in dB... Sounds like you want to look at spectral frequency, I use adobe audition 3 for that... Not too sure if it's available on mac OS though...- monterto
