Hi. Considering selling my classic portable rig as it no longer gets used. Works perfectly. The iPod battery could possibly do with a refresh but otherwise works as new. I had the RX3 serviced 6 months back to correct some noise on the volume pot and so that works as new now. There is no...- Kremer930

ALO Audio RXMKIII Balanced Portable Amplifier Impressions
Interesting to see this thread come to life. I only just dug mine out a week ago to get the low volume channel imbalance sorted. The factory offered this service when it was new but I never sent it back. For those that say that the RX3 was no good with iems…I used to use it on low gain with...- Kremer930

Comment by 'Kremer930' in item 'TRN BAX'
What impresses me even more is that they have a great synergy with an iPhone via a stock Apple lightning adapter. I had previously used them with an ifi XDSD v2 and thought that they sounded excellent but straight out of the phone they still sounded so good that I found myself just sitting and...- Kremer930

I would be surprised that they can’t tell you which version. The warranty card has the driver reference numbers recorded on it. I suspect that I have the older version.- Kremer930

Comment by 'Kremer930' in item 'TRN BAX'
Purchased these on a whim as I wanted to try something new and the idea of the electrostatic drivers intrigued me. I have only had two days of listening so far and still looking for an ideal tip type and size, but so far I am genuinely impressed. The BAX sound more like a set of open back...- Kremer930

The extra power is not used to increase volume. My theory is that a more powerful amplifier is able to control the driver more forcefully and accurately. This mainly shows as deeper, fuller bass and improved timbre. I have experienced this with many headphones previously but am unsure if it...- Kremer930

This is the point that I was trying to test/understand. I would like to see this personal experience between a 1W,2W and a >5W amp when used with an Ananda. I am particularly interested in bass depth and timbre.- Kremer930

This is what I have historically found, that bass and texture improves with increased power. How many people drive the Ananda with 2 watt amps and if possible, have they also tried 6 watts plus amps? Interested to know the impact/effects?- Kremer930

I have a pair of Ananda enroute. Is anyone able to tell me how they perform with increased power capability amps? Years ago I used to own the original HE6 and whilst many amps were supposedly able to drive them, I found that more power filled in the bass regions and improved texture. I am...- Kremer930

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
I have just read about 20 pages of this discussion after being out of the headfi scene for over a year and it is great to read about the same power discussions and now the Ragnarok as a somewhat affordable option to give the HE6 the power they deserve and crave. I previously had the Lyr and...- Kremer930

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Thanks for the tip. I agree that whilst I can drive them with either a Lyr or an RX3 that they really step up further with even more power. I would be happy to get around $750usd so long as they go to a good home.- Kremer930

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Hi. I have been out of the headfi game for some time now and occassionally using my portable rig when I occassionally get some quiet time. I have a set of HE6 with no more than 60hours on them. Any idea what a set is worth to sell. I am in Australia. I love these cans and always planned to...- Kremer930

The Perth, Western Australia Head-Fi Meet Thread
Using tapatalk app has meant that I didn't see the PM's in time. I have been quiet on the headfi front lately. A friend just bought some LCD2.2, and a Schiit mid game amp and dac. It has me interested again. Most of my time is just spent on the old portable rig.- Kremer930

Schiit Mjolnir headphone amplifier
For what it is worth....every time that I get excited and buy some back up cans....I always end up ignoring them too much and the eventually sell them for lack of use. I just can't bring myself to keep a second tier rig. Once I know that it can sound better then it stops getting head time. The...- Kremer930

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
There is a lot of guessing going on about the Gunginir and the anticipated sound quality. Whilst I am also guessing, I really can't see Jason bringing out a DAC just to match the form factor of the Moljnir or to provide balanced outputs. I think that it will still lift the game from the Bifrost...- Kremer930
