Lenovo Thinkpad X Series Appreciation Thread

We need current 2015 opinions on this machine. Is the lack of reviews indicative of a laptop past its prime? Or is this the wrong place for it? And, that trackpoint where the trackpad is usually placed is an ancient piece of technology I don't even recognize.

    Help with my computer decision?

Was considering the new HP 2 in 1 after not being in the laptop market since 2009 with the advent of purchasing a macbook pro. That is until I saw the 90 day limited warranty. I thought one year was standard.

Best Headphone store in New Orleans, LA

You're not going to have much luck finding high end portable phones in the South, except for the more commercialized ones like Beats and some Sennheiser. Region plays a big part in accessibility. Places like Guitar Center could be another option but their selection will probably be limited...

    The Audio Technica W3000ANV Thread

I don't doubt the TH900 is probably technically superior to the W3k, but it's more likely the frequency response--the tipped up highs and recessed mids of the TH900--that'll determine, or make or break a person's choice between the two.

    The Audio Technica W3000ANV Thread

Quote: Probably b/c most ppl don't find it problematic or thin doesn't equate to bad sound. The sound is full-bodied and intimate in presentation in other areas to keep it from sounding anemic. Mid-bass sounds thick, mids very present and sultry, and a slight treble tilt that can sound...

    Weird-fi.

They were all clowning him in the Grado thread for calling the headband adjustment rods antennas, but they do, in fact, effect the sound quality--just not directly like the drivers would. Having the correct fit is prerequisite to hearing the sound optimally.

    Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

Headphone hair is far more preferable than indented hat hair. Hat hair looks as bad as the just got out of bed look.

    Disappointed with Audeze LCD2s

After a while I acclimated to that and it didn't really bother me, since it did most other things right. I thought my IEMs, the Victor FX700, did a better job of a 3D presentation at the time.

    Disappointed with Audeze LCD2s

More like poor imaging. I thought the "wall of sound" had to do with spatial/soundstage cues or having a strong left/right feel? Like you can tell it's coming from the opposite sides of your head, instead of a holographic image...I'm not too sure.

    Disappointed with Audeze LCD2s

The LCD2s aren't phones that'll WOW or floor you. I remember listening to them for the first time and thinking: "Is this it?" I was unsure about how it was "supposed" to sound; It didn't seem to do much of anything remarkable. It took me about a month to appreciate its technical abilities and...

    The Audio Technica W3000ANV Thread

The W3k already has an internalized vocal boost built in the drivers of the headphone from design for your listening pleasure. Every time I put them on I'm reminded of this b/c the vocals surround my inner head in forward motion from every angle. Or could that be how some of the songs were...

Am I crazy for preferring the HE-500's over the LCD2.2's?

Female vocals sound more liquid and emotional on the HE500s, while the LCDs can sound a bit dry and dull at worst.  There isn't a significant difference in the bass response to me to warrant choosing one over the other, unless one's really particular about that. LCDs has timbre and texture that...

    The Audio Technica W3000ANV Thread

I have mine boosted in the sub bass area about 1/2 increments on Itunes. I'd go down to 20/30hz but it doesn't extend that low.

    Head-fiers in Alabama

Might catch more head-fiers if we expanded and included the entire southern region. Add MS to this and we'd have a total of 3. MS is the other side of AL anyway.

The IEM equivalent of an HE-400/HE-500 with regards to imaging?

Hifiman Re-400s. Haven't heard these yet but I'm curious to find out if they're voiced similarly to the full-sized phones of Hifiman. Based on descriptions I've read--they do sound like they *might* have a related house sound.

    Audeze LCD-2 Complaints

I thought the LCD2 had a muddy/muffled quality, despite being highly resolving and having a clean sound, and chalked it up to poor imaging, which most head-fiers claim as the weak point of the LCDs. It could be something else, but I think it's something along that axis. My former IEMs had more...

The many sides of Jude. All this time there were these provocative, colorful, scantily clad photos of Jude hidden in realms of Head-fi unbeknownst to me. I feel cheated.

    As All-Rounder? HE500 or LCD2.2?

Either could work as good all-rounders, being linear response and since both are smooth and forgiving, but LCD will reveal poorer sources as poorer sources better than HE500. HE500 has a liquid sound that'll impart on the music no matter what and LCDs are more warm, natural with better...

*Review Hifiman RE400 Waterline - Perfect for beginner?

Reading the description of the RE400s reminds me of the HE500s--liquid sound with a smoothed over presentation, fast, and a decay that made the notes sound shorter. Interesting, how I've heard phones that were slow and the notes sounded short (FX700), phones that are fast and the decay is...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

For me the difference was like going from a loose seal to a tighter one that encapsulated the sound better. I had fit issues with mine, so that probably played a role in how much it improved, as the velours gave a snug fit.

[HELP!!!] Orpheus, Ebay and a man's foolishness

When I first started establishing myself as a seller on Ebay, they'd wait a period of time after the sell to give one access to the money. If I shipped through the site, it went by faster, as Ebay would move the time up contingent upon delivery status with tracking information. I think seasoned...

[HELP!!!] Orpheus, Ebay and a man's foolishness

I don't see how people with no feedback get away with these ploys. Ebay doesn't release funds until the item is delivered through the postal tracking system or after a extended period of time. Sure they can put a fake tracking number and/or send a box filled with aluminum bars, but when the...
