I've tried a lot of other dacs/amps and just haven't been inspired to switch things up yet. I think i've had this same DAC1 for 10 years now and will be very sad when/if it ever dies on me

I haven't posted on head-fi in years. Simple PC setup for me still, 2 headphones & an all-in-one dac/amp box.

      I liked your setup a lot. I know its much less exotic than a Krell, but I was hoping you liked my Crown D-75A, too. I've been listening to a lot of Infected Mushroom, actually, since hearing that track "Noise Maker" on your setup.

Mine is still stock, but Musicinmymind brought a modded HE-6 to the same meet which I spent some time with. His had a custom cable, new grilles, removed the fabric/stuffing under the grilles, and new earpads. The differences to me were subtle but I did feel his sounded more spacious than mine. 

   I don't think I had enough time to judge it fairly so I don't want to say much for certain. I was very impressed by the vocals on the Dharma, but I didn't have the right environment to do a proper comparison to my HE-6. I am also very partial to the HE-6, so at this point I'd be surprised if...

Can you describe the static further?      For example, what if you have no music playing, but you turn the volume on your DAC way up, and then just move your mouse, not even clicking, just moving? Is there static in sync with the mouse movements?      If so, I think this would mean you're...

  I haven't yet had the pleasure to try the SR-009. How heavy is relatively heavy? I'd imagine that due to being electrostatic, they'd still be relatively light, considering. 

The Denon AH-D5000 were the most comfortable I've owned, but I think the Stax SR-007 was the most comfortable I've ever tried.

    Ah, I actually use toslink. Without galvanic isolation between my large PC and any DAC I've ever personally tried, I get interference (coax/usb both seem to fall prey to this). I am not sure why this is the case, but it plagued my friends before they moved to toslink with their DACs, too...
