Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...

I've tried a lot of other dacs/amps and just haven't been inspired to switch things up yet. I think i've had this same DAC1 for 10 years now and will be very sad when/if it ever dies on me

I haven't posted on head-fi in years. Simple PC setup for me still, 2 headphones & an all-in-one dac/amp box.

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

I liked your setup a lot. I know its much less exotic than a Krell, but I was hoping you liked my Crown D-75A, too. I've been listening to a lot of Infected Mushroom, actually, since hearing that track "Noise Maker" on your setup.

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Ah, you were at the head-fi meet in Annandale!      Thanks for the information. I may also consider doing the "fuzzor" mod described here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/692494/hifiman-fuzzor-mod-driver-backwave-felt-damping-modification

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Hi all,      I took off the grilles of my HE-6 and pulled out the cotton stuffing behind them and put the grilles back on. It's hard to compare it side by side with stock as it's quite a process to put the cotton back in, but I think it could be an improvement - or at least different.      ...

DC Area Head-Fi Meet - George Mason Regional Library - SUNDAY. APRIL 12, 2015 Noon-5 pm

I would 100% chip in cash for a closer meet to Baltimore. I'd even do one soon.

DC Area Head-Fi Meet Impressions (George Mason Library) 4/12/15

In that vein - I was surprised at how much I was interested in the T1 despite never looking it up online, but also I was surprised by how much I just didn't "feel" the HD800. I'm not sure if the HD800 is an acquired taste, or I need more time in quiet with it to really get familiar with it...

    ENIGMAcoustics Dharma

Everytime I hear the bass hit on even just my stock he-6, I am impressed by its speed and strength and clarity. I had no complaints about the dharma's bass but i do not recall it impressing me quite like the he-6 bass does. Again I did not have a ton of time with it and may already be...

    ENIGMAcoustics Dharma

Mine is still stock, but Musicinmymind brought a modded HE-6 to the same meet which I spent some time with. His had a custom cable, new grilles, removed the fabric/stuffing under the grilles, and new earpads. The differences to me were subtle but I did feel his sounded more spacious than mine.

    ENIGMAcoustics Dharma

I don't think I had enough time to judge it fairly so I don't want to say much for certain. I was very impressed by the vocals on the Dharma, but I didn't have the right environment to do a proper comparison to my HE-6. I am also very partial to the HE-6, so at this point I'd be surprised if...

    Sabre DAC static help

Can you describe the static further?      For example, what if you have no music playing, but you turn the volume on your DAC way up, and then just move your mouse, not even clicking, just moving? Is there static in sync with the mouse movements?      If so, I think this would mean you're...

The most comfortable Headphones you have used?

I haven't yet had the pleasure to try the SR-009. How heavy is relatively heavy? I'd imagine that due to being electrostatic, they'd still be relatively light, considering.

The most comfortable Headphones you have used?

The Denon AH-D5000 were the most comfortable I've owned, but I think the Stax SR-007 was the most comfortable I've ever tried.

DC Area Head-Fi Meet Impressions (George Mason Library) 4/12/15

I posted a bit in the meet thread, but might as well post here for posterity.      There were a lot of things I was eager to hear going into the meet:      Musicinmymind's modded HE-6 running on a very fancy DAC/amp setup: This was great, especially the custom cable for the HE-6 which was...

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)

Ah, I actually use toslink. Without galvanic isolation between my large PC and any DAC I've ever personally tried, I get interference (coax/usb both seem to fall prey to this). I am not sure why this is the case, but it plagued my friends before they moved to toslink with their DACs, too...

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)

I'm not sure if I can tell a difference between DACs. I've tried a few of very different price ranges mostly at head-fi meets. What I'd like to do is find a DAC that sounds very distinctly superior or different to the DAC1, and occasionally switch between them to get those different feels.   ...

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)

What's the popular recommendation for a very visually attractive, competent DAC <$1000 that has optical & USB inputs, and RCA & XLR outputs?      I do love my Benchmark DAC1 and have never had a complaint with it, but I think variety could be nice, too.

    ENIGMAcoustics Dharma

I heard these at the Annandale head-fi meet yesterday. I listened to M83, Above & Beyond, and The Naked & Famous. Not a huge selection - but then I didn't spend a ton of time, There were just so many other things to try as well.      From what I did experience:      Really smooth sound...

DC Area Head-Fi Meet - George Mason Regional Library - SUNDAY. APRIL 12, 2015 Noon-5 pm

For some reason, seeing it online, the Beyer T1 never interested me at all. No idea why, I guess it just didn't seem exotic or something?      But seeing and hearing it at a meet, well that was a really very nice headphone. Looked great, felt great, sounded very nice. It might not be the most...

DC Area Head-Fi Meet - George Mason Regional Library - SUNDAY. APRIL 12, 2015 Noon-5 pm

I had a great time. The new hybrid electrostatic/dynamic Dharma was pretty fascinating, and I am super happy to have finally had the chance to hear the T1, HD800, and TH900.  There was also some sort of custom fostex T50RP mod that was really crazy-looking but actually had this very interesting...

Hey guys, I don't own a laptop so I borrowed a friend's.       It's got Spotify and about 70GB free for various flac albums to be played in Foobar that I'm copying over.      I'm trying to put in a good representation of a variety of genres and things I think people would find familiar or...
