Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Quote: Maybe give me an example of a song and I'll try to analyse the more significant parts of it? (it'll help if you can give me the timings of what you like me to take note of) I have the DT discography, so you can pick a few songs from there. I don't listen to the other bands though.- Pyxis

Quote: Personally, it's not recessed, but definitely not as forward and sharp as I'd like it to be, especially on the snares. Cymbals actually sound very decent on the W4s.- Pyxis

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Finally got my W4s back from reshelling. Paired with the Silver Dragon cables, they sound amazing. Separation of vocals from instruments and instruments from instruments have definitely improved. Female vocals sound amazing with them. Mids have extended, soundstage a slight bit, and the bass...- Pyxis

Quote: I did it with Stage 93. It's a local company based in Singapore, but I think they do accept customers from other countries. http://stage93.com/ Here's the official website if you're interested. (: They have excellent service and fantastic turnaround (at...- Pyxis

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
I'm getting my W4s back after almost 3 weeks of waiting. I went ahead to get them reshelled and paired with Moon Audio's Silver Dragon cables with Oyaide plug. Really excited to see how it turns out! Anyway, I'm here not to ask you guys about the W4, but rather a DAC that would go with the...- Pyxis

Recommendations for a DAC. ($50)
Quote: The review said that the amp has problems with powering BA IEMs, and that's what I'm using, so I don't wish to risk it. Thanks for the recommendations though, it does sound like a good DAC, pity I don't have a suitable rig. Any other suggestions?- Pyxis

Quote: Yeah, I experienced this problem too. The fault was particularly glaring when I played songs by Beatles, but it seemed fine on other tracks, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Anyway, got them reshelled, and the company tested the drivers and said that there's nothing wrong...- Pyxis

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Quote: I kinda had that issue as well, I forgot which, but I noticed that one side held more "power" than the other side and I was afraid that the driver on one blew or something. But it's fine. So to reassure you, no, it's not only you. Any other W4 users had this problem as...- Pyxis

IEM / Earphones while in bed
Just a question, will this hurt the IEM in any way, if you sleep with them in your ears? Damage to cables is my main concern, considering I'm not a very still sleeper.- Pyxis

Recommendations for a DAC. ($50)
Hi guys, I'm looking for recommendations of DACs which are priced around $50. I'm pretty new in this DAC thing, so I would really appreciate your help to make my decision easier. (: I am planning on getting it with a friend, and if it is of any help.... ME genre: rock, psychedellic...- Pyxis

L Shape plugs vs Straight plugs
Honestly, it all depends on where you use your earphones/headphones and how you use it. For me, I always hold my source in 1 hand in a pouch, thus I find that the straight plug is the choice for me, especially since the wire doesn't need to bend when I place it in my pocket. Also, a right...- Pyxis

Do you listen to music when you work/study?
As a student, I only listen to music when I do work. I can't when I'm memorizing though, too distracting. And yeah, that sounds like an awesome job! I wish I will be able to use earphones in my work place like you next time. (: -
Best IEM in the $300-$400 range
Quote: I tried it 2 days ago, and it definitely sounded more exciting than the W4s, haha! The bass was a bit too punchy and less controlled than the W4s though.- Pyxis

Best IEM in the $300-$400 range
I'd recommend Westone 4s. I own it, and the 535s sound a bit muffled, compared to the W4. But do be prepared to be disappointed if you do get the W4s. There's no "wow" factor, unlike the 535 with its strong mids, but after a while, you'll start to love it and you'll find other IEMs to be...- Pyxis

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
I recently tried my friend's SE 535. I've read reviews saying that the 535 is much better than the W4, and I ask.. How so?.. I could not hear how it was better. Everything's so muffled compared to the W4.- Pyxis

Alternative to Westone 4R/Shure SE535 that is NOT over-the-ear?
Over the ear actually reduces microphonics. Not that ES2 cables have that problem anyway. Next best would be the IE8 or the new IE80? The fit is bad though, and there's very little isolation compared to Westone 4 or otherwise.- Pyxis

Quote: I didn't think about reshelling it at all, honestly. Temptation to is too strong though, lol. Would you take the risk of adding a driver? I'm not going to do it, but it would change the sound signature drastically right?- Pyxis
