crinacle's IEM Ranking List
This part had me chuckling. I couldn't agree more. To my humble ears, the Phantom's ultimate vice is it's lack of proper treble presence. The highs fall off drastically at some point and it shows in its lack of crispness and perceived clarity. This is unacceptable for a flagship costing as...- omastic

FiiO FH5 - Quad Driver Hybrid In-Ear Monitors || Knowles Balanced Armature Drivers
I would be concerned that the frequency response falls off a cliff after around 8KHz and never recovers. All the iem measurements that I have seen thus far and then correlated to how I hear them, a lack of presence around 8-10KHz is almost as annoying as having a massive peak in that region.- omastic

CustomArt FIBAE Impressions Thread
Hello Piotr, do you have any thoughts as to what actually creates this significant difference in sound when the ARESII+ is used? This is a genuine question out of curiosity, as since my understanding is that cables primarily create a difference through having different impedance values compared...- omastic

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
I had a brief listening session with the Dream the other day and I was gobsmacked by how good it sounded. If #9 sounds this good, I can't imagine how the top 8 sounds cause it literally trips up my mind to even think about it. Dream is the only dynamic that utterly amazed me with clarity and...- omastic

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
The single BA Warber Prelude is raking up a lot of interest from my side. Jelt's full length review as well as the short comparison vs Katana in Nic's review are quite positive. Hell, this single driver has already beaten several well regarded multi armature setups in this shoot-out alone and I...- omastic

Jomo Audio Impressions & Discussion Thread
I agree with you, this is a predominantly user experience driven hobby, but there's some science behind these user experiences. Its not just voodoo magic. It isn't rocket science either. See, whatever you are hearing can be explained to a large extent with measurable data. What do you think...- omastic

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
Wow. I absolutely loved FFAB 1, eagerly waiting for FFAB 2, and now we have "ranking the stars" in the making! Nothing's more fun than the suspense of a gradually unfolding TOTL IEM shootout! Thanks @flinkenick for the initiative. Head-fi will be a fun place to be in the next few months it...- omastic

VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread
Finally had the opportunity to demo the new GR07X. My impression more or less mirrors @Airlight 's and @Mozu 's posts above. The GR07X 's tuning is indeed flatter across the spectrum compared the GR07 Classic. Specifically it has reduced the overall bass presence and tamed the lower treble...- omastic

Custom Art Harmony 8.2 - Flagship ciem reload !
Thanks a lot for sharing the measurement Piotr! I was really curious to see the them. On another note, the H8.2 sounds brilliant out of the Oppo HA2 SE, managing to surpass the QP1R, which is no mean feat at all!- omastic

Custom Art Harmony 8.2 - Flagship ciem reload !
It would be interesting to see a more accurate frequency response measurement for the H8.2, if you don't mind sharing here ofcourse! As for @MuZo2 's measurements, I don't think I am hearing the upper treble to be quite as recessed. Its laid back for sure, but subjectively speaking there...- omastic

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
Hiss sensitivity differs from one individual to another. Some are extremely bothered and annoyed by it, while others remain completely hiss oblivious. Also there are a myriad of factors like listening volume, number of quiet passages in the tracks listened, inherent hiss constituent of the...- omastic

iem 300$ - 400$
The IT03 is a bit more V shaped with a much stronger bass and sub bass. The P1 is relatively mid focused with not as much bass or treble. The IT03 sounds cleaner and clearer to my ears, I find it's V shaped response to be very well done which adds a lot of clarity and definition to the sound...- omastic

IBasso Audio IT03
Yes,I agree the Martian probably is a bit more linear overall but I also don't want to overemphasize the IT03's V shaped nature. It has a strong treble and a particularly strong bass presence but IMO the enhancement in both the extremes isn't overdone. The Andromeda, for example, is not that far...- omastic

IBasso Audio IT03
I have both. They are on par with each other as far as performance goes. The IT03 has a much stronger bass and sub bass response, a bit more emphasis in the upper mid and lower treble regions and a relatively more V shaped frequency response. The Martian's bass is leaner but more...- omastic

1. It's energetic AND smooth. May be not the smoothest around but definitely one of the smoothest TWFK based set I have ever heard. I believe its safe to say the IT03 is quite smooth for the amount of treble on show. Signature is just a touch V shaped with good mid presence (IT03 will never...- omastic

@BartSimpson1976 it has a lot to do with the models of ba drivers used and the electrical configuration (series or parallel) between the different drivers. Some ba drivers are inherently super sensitive, others are less. The final impedance and sensitivity figures are the result of all these...- omastic

Chinese / Asian Brand IEM Info Thread
I will have to disagree with this statement. The AK380 might make the FLC8S perform at its level best, but it will not make it better than an Andromeda which will be driven perfectly well by the Xduoo X2. Lets not overemphasize the importance of uber expensive sources for driving super...- omastic
