UE Reference Monitors For Stage Work

Thanks for that.  The music I play isn't necessarily bass heavy.  Indie/rock both acoustic and electric versions.  I would realy like to hear opinions from people that have hands on experience with the UERM's.  I am basically wondering if I would be better off with say the UE 7 Pro for stage...

UE Reference Monitors For Stage Work

I recently ordered the UE Reference Monitors.  I should be getting them in a week or so (can't wait!).  I got them primarily for tracking/mixing/mastering work in my studio to supplement my studio monitors and HD650's for critical listening.   I also play guitar (acoustic & electric), and...

Question about hooking up headphone amp

EQ would come from whatever you have in front of your amp (Reciever, preamp, stand alone EQ unit, etc.).  Personally, I am happy going from my source Tascam CD RW700 into my Burson HA-160 which feeds my HD650's.  I thought about eq, but decided I really don't need any.  It all boils down to...

Question about hooking up headphone amp

Quote: I agree and actually promote these types of suggestions.  Getting caught up in the "This brand is best", or "More expensive equals better quality", quagmire is pure rubbish.  Let your own ears decide what's best.

Question about hooking up headphone amp

Thanks for the photo.  You should be able to hook up your amp to the RCA prog out.  However, you will not be able to take advantage of the higher quality audio.  You are left at the mercy of your TV's converters.    With the analog connections, the TV audio outs must decode the Dolby Digital...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Welcome to the club!  I am addicted to mine, can't take them off.  I think I am going to use them as ear muffs this winter.

Question about hooking up headphone amp

It looks like you will have to get a dedicated receiver to be able to hook things up the way you need to.  For example TV > HDMI > Blu-Ray > HDMI > Receiver > RCA > Headphone amp.

    What's the difference between a $300 amp and a $1200 one????

Quote: These are excellent points, which is why I subscribe to blind testing whenever possible.  I saved a lot of money doing it this way.  At least in America anyway, our minds are trained to think that more expensive = better.

Waiting for New AKG Flagship Headphones

Quote: Opinions are one thing, but I think what most people don't appreciate are comments that trash a particular product with vague or generalized comments.  Here is an example:   - I think that the HD650 has a weaker and less detailed high-end than the K701's.  (OK, cool that's...

Burson HA160 / Meier corda concerto / Graham slee SRG II / Lehman BCL / Beta22 2or3 Channel???

Quote: What I always take away from threads like this is that sound is subjective.  There is no clear winner here and that is because, what our ears like is subjective from one person to the next..  As passionate as people are about a particular piece of equipment, there are no...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Quote:   I used to be a huge skeptic on the burn in process, but I am now a firm believer in it.  It's hard for me to put into words, but my experience with the HD650 burn in was that first off, I loved the sound of the phones new out of the box.  After a burn-in however, they seemed...

    Best headphones around $400

I was as one time one of those that scoffed at the idea of breaking in speakers / headphones.  Now I wouldn't think of not breaking in them in.  To my ears there is most definitely a difference.  Just my .02

    What's the first CD…

Not that you asked, but my first vinyl album was Black Sabbath - Vol. 4   My first CD was Yes - Fragile   My ears were fatigued by CD's when they first came out.  it took years to become adjusted.  In fact I didn't by a CD player until the mid 90's.  Now I have no vinyl and all CD's. ...

    Producing/Mixing Headphones

Regardless of which headphones you decide on, you will need to get used to them.  The same is true of any nearfield monitors that you would use for mixing.  I use HD650, and have been very successfully with them.  In fact I am to the point now where I can mix on them just as well as with my...

    Y'all killin' me...

Quote:   I say it all depends on your ears.  Yes it is about the music, but if what you are using to  listen to the music with makes it a bad experience then what?  The iPhone ear-buds for example are extremely fatiguing to my ears.  That is not the musics fault.  You cannot discount the...

    Y'all killin' me...

Quote: You bring up a good point.  In the case of wine, it all depends on how sensitive your taste buds are.  Some people really can't tell the difference between one bottle Shiraz and the next regardless of price.  The same holds true with Audiophile equipment.  If your ears cannot...

Question about hooking up headphone amp

What Blue-Ray unit do you have?  Is the the connection between the Blu-Ray and TV HDMI? Optical?   Of course you can run the headphone amp through your TV, but based on the info you have provided, I don't see how you would be able to take advantage of the Blu-Ray converters for higher fidelity.

    HD650 AMP

I like new, but I too would much rather save the money.  I mean literally, depending on what your rigs looks like, you can save hundreds of $$$.  I used to have the mind set that more money meant better. I am so glad I grew out of that.

    Help choosing good headphones

All I can offer is this.  What sounds good is subjective.  Try your best to actually listen to the suggested headphones whenever possible.  There are folks on this site with great ears, but again what sounds good to them may not sound good to you.    In my case for example I narrowed my...

Most annoying terminology used by audiophile today?

The word is dated though.  the Office Space movie basically made it one of those words that makes it laughable.  I used to hear it used at work often, but now it's never used since that movie came out.    The same thing happened with words like 'Paradigm Shift", or when you are not available...

If you could own ONE amp it would be ____?

Forgive my ignorance, but is that a DIY amp?  If so what did it cost to build?  I would like to attempt building a nice tube amp just for the fun of it.  What other amps did you consider before deciding on this one?
