New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

A workaround that I discovered that worked for me, in case it is an issue for anyone else, is to plug the SP1000 into a generic USB 2.0 hub, and then it's recognised by the computer.

New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

Can you confirm whether the SP1000 is meant to be working with the M1 based Macs? I've tried using mine with two different M1 Macs and neither will work with the SP1000 in DAC or USB mode. The Intel Macs I've tested with work fine. I'm running latest available firmware on the SP1000 and latest...

    The Grado HF2--It's For Real

I've been absent from Head-fi for a little while, but I'm going to be in Brooklyn on holiday mid-next month and had a vision of knocking on the Grado factory door to try and get a set of RS-2s or RS-1s at a bargain price. (ok, I wasn't really just going to jut show up there, but when you're a...

    xbox 360 65nm board?

I've had an xbox 360 for about 10 months, never had the RROD but I don't play for eight hours straight either. I also keep it well ventilated. I did have one issue where I'd get Disc errors playing a game for a while, but MS fixed that up for me. It's hardly been a smooth experience for me, but...

I finally "got" Ellliott Smith. Ever happen for you that way? With what musicians?

My Bloody Valentine's 'Loveless'. Sounded like noise when I first listened, but upon friendly pressure, I listened to it some more, and now I love it. One of my desert island discs.

Cities / built up areas = Lack of creativity

I think creativity exists, but perhaps in different forms. The first thing I thought about when reading the topic title was in relation to stencil/pasteup art which is just massive in the laneways of the central business district in Melbourne. (And I know Banksy over the UK and Space Invader in...

    Which amp to buy?

The best thing about these forums is having the opportunity to read the advice and opinions of others about a wide variety of different equipment. Deciding where I want to take my life?

A lot of the advice here is good and doesn't need to be repeated. I'd add a couple more points; - Don't choose money over interest/passion. I.e., don't choose one career just because it will make more money than another that is genuinely more interesting for you. I'm 35 now and worked for...

Do you 'discover' albums in your collection that you dismissed?

This happened to me recently with this album: Stars - 'Set yourself on fire'. It sat on my shelf for ages after a quick initial listen, and then gave it another try. It didnt leave my cd player for a good couple of weeks once I listened to it properly.

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!

My watch collection (images found via google, not actual photos of my stuff) My old seiko. I saw a cab driver wearing one of these about 10 years ago and fell in love with it. I hunted through pawnbrokers and estate jewellers and anywhere else I could look until I finally found one (and that...

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!

I was eyeing off an Anonimo watch earlier this week - this one, in fact: Apparently, an Italian guy started the company after Panerai (another fine maker of beautiful watched) was bought and moved to Switzerland, leaving some (many?) of Panerai's original talent behind. I got a...

    Headphones for DJ'ing (k240 / hd25 / what?)

I use a pair of Sennheiser HD200s for DJing - they're closed and do the job well enough - plus it's got a single cable connecting into one earpad (no Y cable), and it's socketed with a mini stereo connector, so when you accidentally step on the cord, etc it just pulls out of the phones instead...
