Interesting. My E17 screen has gone really dim. I guess the backlight is dying? Maybe I should contact Fiio and see if I can get a fix for it.

Again, laptop source so I can't stick a sound card in it.  I just kind of have to suck it up and spend more at this rate, but if the amp will be enough for a while it's not bad.

Oh yeah, on top of that I am in Canada so shipping can add a lot to the price if it's coming from outside Canada ;_;.   Perhaps I should just get an amp now and a DAC later?  Or maybe wait for the E17 (not completely sure if it's enough for the Q701s).

Yeah, I'm torn about deciding between a DAC/amp for the Q701's.  I'm looking to spend ~$150 on that, with my source being a laptop via USB and a J3. Being portable is a nice extra though I don't think I would use the Q701's outside, only my RE0s.

Can someone explain the wiring of the AD700's? I think it is   White - Left + Red -> Red wire - Right + Blue -> Gold wire - GND   But it doesn't make sense that ground and right + are touching inside the black wire, and it doesn't have connection between them (infinite resistance...

Ok so, I unconventionally removed my worn screw by heating it up with my soldering itron and pulled the driver out, the screw still secured.  I don't think I see much out of the ordinary but the thin black wire that connects to the right side is mostly exposed.  Possible short circuit?  I can...

A couple days ago my Ad700's have lost sound to the right ear, after possibly tugging the cord or something similar.  Since I bought these off eBay and it is my fault, I doubt warranty is an option.     The likeliest cause is probably a loose connection between the cable and drivers, right...

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been looking at the MS1 and they seem pretty good. The price and shipping is the tipping point for me, otherwise I would possibly get the AD700.  I'd like to know the quality of the MS1 and what the difference between the 'original' and '2009' versions are.
