DT 880 VS DT 990 Gaming?
From personal experience with the DT-880, I had a difficult time with pinpointing player movement in FPS games - I specifically purchased them for gaming - without consideration of other's advice about best FPS gaming headphones. And then I made a second mistake of moving on to the HD650 for...- sainthoodx

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
So to get the good soundstage and transparent sound with the m-stage, what do you set the windows speaker config to? 2.1, 5.1, 7.1, or headphone? Also, does anyone have experience with best Creative Control Panel settings for x-fi cards that go well with the m-stage?- sainthoodx

M-Stage, V-DAC, X-FI Titan Soundcard, Cans - simple questions
I'm not getting sound out of the M-Stage when I running RCA cables into the titan's i/o RCA jacks. Anybody know if i'm missing a step? ------------- edit --------------- Turns out the titan's I/o drive features RCA Line-in... not line-out. >< I'm waiting patiently for my V-DAC...- sainthoodx

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Fluff, do they sound "off" with every pair of phones you have? Can we hear more M-Stage "MK2" impressions? It is very new after all, and we have one potentially negative future review for it so far... -----------EDIT------------ Aparently Fluff is the only one so far having any "off"...- sainthoodx

Sound card to DAC spdif question
Thanks for the insightful reply! I wonder how I will be able to configure it. Hmm. I guess by default it wouldn't do anything at all besides DAC, because the DAC is just a small part of what the x-fi soundcard does?- sainthoodx

Sound card to DAC spdif question
Please pardon my naïveté: I have an X-fi Titanium soundcard hooked up to my V-DAC via toslink (optical, spdif). Here are my questions about the consequences of doing that: 1. I am wondering if the sound card's xram and other processes are completely negated or passed on to the V-DAC...- sainthoodx

X-fi Titanium --> DAC question
I have an X-fi Titanium sound card and a V-DAC. I pass the sound card's DAC function over to my V-DAC via toslink (optical, spdif). Here are my questions: 1. I am wondering if the sound card's xram and other processes are completely negated or passed on to the V-DAC? 2. I still get 3D...- sainthoodx

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Quote: So a very popular $300ish mid-fi standalone DAC that you could get to match your standalone $300ish mid-fi standalone AMP (standalone: because I personally wouldn't pair an amp/dac combo with a standalone one or the other) is the Musical Fidelity V-DAC - it is incredible an...- sainthoodx

M-Stage, V-DAC, X-FI Titan Soundcard, Cans - simple questions
Alright! I can't wait to hear about it. SP Wild mentioned in another post that the HD650 tend to be less "technical" and more about the warm creamy smooth sound, and the best way to hear that smoothness would be through a tube amp. But I'm wondering if "our combo" would sound at least almost...- sainthoodx

M-Stage, V-DAC, X-FI Titan Soundcard, Cans - simple questions
Well, I'm extremely attracted to the HD-650 and HD-800 from the reviews I've heard (not sure if I can afford the HD-800 though), but I see a lot of people contesting for K701s and 2s or all those silly beyers or a40s and a50s and so on and so forth,. There are just so many options. I am mainly...- sainthoodx

M-Stage, V-DAC, X-FI Titan Soundcard, Cans - simple questions
I actually ordered the v-dac and m-stage last week (and they haven't arived yet) so I've only heard my HD595 out of a Xonar U1 USB audio interface (a USB soundcard basically) that was plugged into my Macbook Pro. I don't actually know what I want to change in the sound as I haven't heard it...- sainthoodx

Hmmm. It would appear that my HD595s just won't cut it? I need ideas for an upgrade then :( I prefer synergy with a v-dac and m-stage combo. Something with a lot of transparency, punchy base (but not over exaggerated), liquidy mids, and silky angelic highs. I listen to all musical genres but I...- sainthoodx
