The discovery thread!
Thanks a bunch, Cute! One more question then- not to be a bother. Being made out of plastic, do the AD900X's fall prey to making squeaking sounds when moving around? The AD700's do that, and it's slightly irritating.- Maytan

The discovery thread!
Just to confirm, can you AD900X owners tell me if they're made out if magnesium or plastic? Only a curiosity. I was about to pick up some new cans (currently on AD700's) and chose to pick up some AD900's. Now that these AD900X's are out, I don't know what to buy. I need more reviews!- Maytan

Inexperienced and looking to upgrade: AD900, K702, DT-880.
Thanks for all of your posts, fellows. I ultimately have decided on the Q701's, thanks to Katun pointing out Amazon's superb return policy. This way I can always return them if I feel I'd like the AD900's more.- Maytan

Quote: That's interesting. I do have access to Amazon. That's where I was probably going to buy from actually. Still leaning towards those AD900's! :p Quote: Thanks for all the suggestions! Many of those are a bit more expensive than I'd like. I think the Q701's, DT 880's...- Maytan

Inexperienced and looking to upgrade: AD900, K702, DT-880.
I had read that the K702's offer a more 'detailed' sound than the Q701's. I had also read that the Q701's have a 'fuller' or 'warmer' sound, and thought that the K702's would be more my style. I could be wrong about that though, I have little experience in this side of my hobbies so I'm trying...- Maytan

Inexperienced and looking to upgrade: AD900, K702, DT-880.
I currently have AD700's. I really like them- but I want to get something better. As I'm inexperienced, I'm not too sure how to go about describing things here. My best effort is this: I like a detailed, neutral, crisp, clear sound. Something like the cold fresh breeze of an Autumn day...- Maytan

WASAPI delay
I fixed it (the delay) thanks to the poster I quoted below, take a look. As for sound, you can either hit 'stop' instead of 'pause' (which shouldn't be more than a minor annoyance), or you can put your device in shared mode. (as posted here) I don't know if shared mode has any negative...- Maytan

WASAPI delay
Just curious here, I've started using WASAPI recently and I noticed that it's causing delays in Foobar. About a one second delay to pause/switch tracks. I apologize if I'm missing something obvious. As usual, I tried using the search feature extensively before posting. Turned up no useful...- Maytan

Thanks! But, how can I set precision mode to switch SR on its own? It seems like I'm forced to choose a SR to run at, even if I choose precision mode...- Maytan

What are the difference between fast and precision mode? And what effects do the different modes have on the SR control? I'd really love a manual to this thing....- Maytan

Best way to obtain lossless format music?
Thanks for all the help! I think I'll start with CDs. Online distribution is nice, but I had a hard time finding a distributor that sells lossless formats. (and apparently I didn't do a good job looking around. I'll have to give HDTracks and Qobuz a look-see.) Once again, thanks!- Maytan

Best way to obtain lossless format music?
I recently bought my first DAC, along with my first 'decent' headphones. Everything's going great, except one problem. I've been collecting all my music in MP3. (oh noes!) I want to get my hands on some lossless format music, and was wondering the best way to do that. If I had to fathom a guess...- Maytan

For gaming: X-Fi or uDAC?
If you have a good price on it, I'd say get it. In my personal opinion, however, I'd rather have sound quality in games than surround emulation. (I really dislike what CMSS3D sounds like. I just can't enjoy my games with it.)- Maytan

X-Fi Forte or Xonar DX?
The Forte is comparable to the STX last I heard. So I'd say the Forte is better for music. (plus it has a built in phone amp)- Maytan

Alright, thanks! @fenix Yeah, I read through the thread but I still couldn't make up my mind. I think I'll pick it up later. Since I'll be using AD700s for quite awhile, I think I'll hold out on an amp until I upgrade my cans. The 02's amp should be good enough. (I've heard a bit of...- Maytan

Musiland Monitor 02 US
So what's the general consensus on this thing? Any good for a first timer in the audio-world? I was looking for a good DAC with a decent amp for my AD700s. (I needed the analog for my speakers too) This seems to fit the bill, but I'm hearing things about crackling sounds? EDIT: Also, if I go...- Maytan

Someone want to help me pick out a DAC/Sound Card?
Hmm, I figured it depended on the paint. At any rate I'll currently be running a 650W rig, with the possibility of future upgrades going passed 700W for sure. Still EXTREMELY skeptical on the whole hissing issue. It's fairly common.. Some links for interest if you want to take a look...- Maytan
