K500
after 2 days of listening, i find the K500 like a K701 on drugs! The mids re much more forward but still remains their sweetness. And they actually have more mid bass than the K701. A bit less details on the top end actually make music sound more natural than on the K701. Plus, they seem to...- Noobiiee

MDR-Z1000 new Sony flagship headphones
It's the sound that matters I think! And this still looks better than the Q701 or HD598 to me From a closer look, these phones seem to be solid with leather pads and (probably) metal headband.- Noobiiee

K500
More forward mid-ranges and more present mid bass (not sub bass though). Overall, like some may say, much more musical than the K701. My K701 will be sitting on their stand for a while from now About rock and metal, they're ok to my ears but I'm not a rock person at all so you should...- Noobiiee

New AKG line
Agree! Especially after trying the K500, I dont think the K701 deserves to be the top of the line anymore. Anyways where's the Q1000 again?- Noobiiee

K500
Just bought a pair of K500 for ~$130. Not the best price but the phones are in good con apart from the elastics not being elastic any more :) They sound amazing, to me they are like a crude version of the K701 with more "in your face" mids ,less details, and of course loads of mid bass!- Noobiiee

K701 thread
Quote: At first I found them quite edgy but after the long @ss burn-in, the sound did smooth out a lot. When properly amped, they sound much more full-bodied with more bass and rounder soundstage. However I did find the sound of violin on these cans a bit strange compared to the HD650 or my...- Noobiiee

One thing I hate about the K701 or HPs in general is the gap in the middle of the headstage, that speakers always fill up. The cross-feed feature of Phonitor shud solve this problem well I hope. Quote:- Noobiiee

K701 thread
Mine got 8 but still very uncomfortable initially until I stretch them out with a thick stack of books over a night. Then all the discomfort gone away Using the K701 with my Denon PMA-2000III at the moment, sounds much better than the MiniMax. I seriously think any modern mid-fi intergrated amp...- Noobiiee

Is My Receiver A Headphone Amp As Well?
That's why hifi HPs exist. One thing to remember, the hp sect in your turner/pre-amp can also be good or bad. If the pre-amp itself is not up to scratch then neither will its HP section. Quote: @Vinnie: the Denon line-up should work well with the HD650 since Denon amps...- Noobiiee

Is My Receiver A Headphone Amp As Well?
The 1500AE's headphone section seems to be fairly neutral and quite powerful to me so don't think it'll have any prob driving the HD650. From my observation, most of the new integrated amp or pre-amps in the mid-fi markets would have a headphone section that is capable of driving power-hungry...- Noobiiee

Looking for open headphones with good bass ~£100
MS1i has more bass than MS1 so if you want treble, go for MS1. The only place you can buy new Alessandro products is their own website: http://www.alessandro-products.com/main.php There are many options of pads but I'd suggest wash the original pads thoroughly and stick with them...- Noobiiee

yep be quick before VAT rise to 20% Plus custom (VAT) and handling charge, the cost would rise to about 95GBP. That'd be around the price of the SR60 but the MS1i use the driver of the SR80 & SR125 so you get something in between of SR80 & SR125 for the price of the SR60- Noobiiee

Mate that's why I said get the MS1i. I was in your situation be4 and Alessandro products seems to be the most reasonably priced Grados if bought outside US. Quote:- Noobiiee
